Which one is the angel?

I have attached three photographs I took at Dollywood tonight. One has lights formed into the shape of an angel, but I think the REAL angel is standing to the left in this photograph: the woman who has always fully supported me in the AiG ministry, my wife of 33 years this month (December)---Mally! MERRY CHRISTMAS At nearly all of the shows we attended in Pigeon Forge, one of the performers would say something like "we say 'Merry Christmas' here" (an obvious reference to the fact that ...

What is a Christmas carol?

Today we attended three different shows in Pigeon Forge. The first was a breakfast show with the "Blackwood Brothers and Singers" gospel singing groups---it was a great witness to those present. The second was a Louise Mandrell program---she also had a gospel message and a series of gospel songs. This evening we attended the "Dixie Stampede"---a great program that included a Nativity segment that is the best weve ever seen. But I did groan at their pre-show: they had a great bluegrass band, whose leader said, "were going to play you some of your favorite ...

On a personal note

R & R Mally and I, together with Buddy and Kay Davis, are in the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area for a few days of R & R. Buddy brought his mandolin along, so I took a couple of photos on the back deck of the log cabin we are staying in, overlooking the Smoky Mountains. Tonight was a special night---what a contrast to this morning, though. We stopped by Wal-Mart this morning, and we noticed the word "Christmas" had been deleted from the store. We saw signs like "happy holidays" and "holiday shopping," ...

AiG–UK opens new office

On Saturday, November 26, the AiG–UK ministry, under the leadership of Dr. Monty White, held special ceremonies to open their new office in Leicester, England. As part of their celebration, I recorded a message on video that was played to those participating. A transcript of this message was used as our lead article on the website this weekend. If you havent read it, I would encourage you to do so and rejoice with AiG–UK in their continued expansion of the Answers in Genesis ministry in UK/Europe: A special day for AiG-UK. ...

Be careful what you read

While I was in San Diego a couple of weeks ago, a reporter for the Sydney Morning Herald called to interview me about the ID (Intelligent Design) movement. (The article appeared today---Sunday, November 27.) Now and then I read a newspaper article and groan somewhat, as I know, from my perspective, it doesnt say what I hoped it would. What I recall saying is something like this: "Some in the CHURCH see the intelligent design movement as a way of trying to, at least, have students question naturalism---and that may lead to them questioning other aspects of ...

Sad state of affairs

One of our staff brought to my attention today a course that is being taught at The College Of Wooster in Ohio, an independent college that has Presbyterian connections. In a course called "Geology Confronts Creationism," students will be instructed as to how to supposedly refute the literal creationists. Part of the description of the course states: Creationism as popularly defined includes the belief that Noah's Flood was real, global in its extent, and about a year in duration. These beliefs and others taken from a literal interpretation of the Bible are clearly contradicted by scientific evidence, especially that of ...
