Answers in Genesis: Upholding the Authority of the Bible from the Very First Verse

Recently, the article that appeared in a Cincinnati newspaper about some of the artists/sculptors at the Creation Museum appeared in the Indianapolis Star newspaper. This article dealt with the Christian testimony of these artists. A public school science teacher from Indianapolis responded:

As a science teacher in Indianapolis Public Schools, I was appalled and dismayed by the article about the Creation Museum that appeared April 23 on page 2 (“Museum that will focus on faith also inspires it”). I have to battle the misinformation that has been pumped into my students’ brains all the time. What we don’t need is another museum about false science and an article basically singing its praises in a major metropolitan newspaper.

I understand freedom of religion. And I won’t deny that creationists have the right to build their museums, as long as they are totally privately funded. But it makes the jobs of those who teach real science that much tougher.

This teacher goes on to say that evolution has been proven! You can read the entire column and other negative things this person has to say about the Creation Museum at the Star website.

ONE-FIFTH SCALE MODEL OF NOAH’S ARK IN NETHERLANDS

It’s interesting to see the increasing number of biblically themed museums starting to be built around the world. Once the Creation Museum is open, we expect some people will want to build similar facilities in other countries or the West Coast of USA. The following news item about a scale model of Noah’s Ark is interesting (by the way, you can get a lot of information about Noah’s Ark and Noah’s Flood from the latest ANSWERS magazine—it has been extremely popular). The news item states:

The massive central door in the side of Noah’s Ark was thrown open Saturday—you could say it was the first time in 4,000 years—drawing a crowd of curious pilgrims and townsfolk to behold the wonder. Of course, it’s only a replica of the biblical Ark, built by Dutch creationist Johan Huibers as a testament to his faith in the literal truth of the Bible.

Reckoning by the old biblical measurements, Johan’s fully functional ark is 150 cubits long, 30 cubits high and 20 cubits wide. That’s two-thirds the length of a football field and as high as a three-story house. Life-size models of giraffes, elephants, lions, crocodiles, zebras, bison and other animals greet visitors as they arrive in the main hold…A contractor by trade, Huibers built the ark of cedar and pine — biblical scholars debate exactly what the wood used by Noah would have been. Huibers did the work mostly with his own hands, using modern tools and occasional help from his son Roy. Construction began in May 2005…In fact, Noah’s Ark as described in the Bible was five times larger than Johan’s Ark.

ARTICLE ON AiG AND MUSEUM IN KENTUCKY ENQUIRER

An article on AiG and the Creation Museum appeared Sunday in the Kentucky Enquirer. The article began:

A school science curriculum, PowerPoint presentations, children’s books, DVDs, seminars, Internet courses and field trips are some of the educational features available, or available soon, from Answers in Genesis - and many are selling by the thousands.

The Petersburg-based organization that believes in the literal biblical story of how the world was created will open the $27 million Creation Museum here May 28.

Part of that building will include a store full of various books, videos and toys - much of which are already available online at www.answersingenesis.org.

In fiscal year 2006, the organization sold $2.7 million in products, according to Dale Mason, vice president of media and marketing. Mason said the fiscal year 2007 (ending June 30) projection is $4.3 million, a 60 percent increase. Product sales, he said, are about 30 percent of the company’s annual budget. The rest is from donations. About 40 percent of sales are done through the Web site.

Mally and I are at the Springfield airport in Missouri on our way home at the time of writing this blog—this was after my speaking last night and this morning in Branson.
