Answers in Genesis: Upholding the Authority of the Bible from the Very First Verse

In an article about secular scientists predicting when the world will end, they state:

In fact, we’ve only got a billion years left before the slowly expanding sun boils off the oceans and reduces our planet to an uninhabitable cinder, says Smith. That may sound like a long time, but in fact life on Earth’s been around a lot longer than that—a total of 3.7 billion years, according to the latest estimates.

For those first three billion years, true, we were nothing but pond scum.

Why should we be surprised when more and more young people have a relative morality? After all, if we came from pond scum, life has no value or meaning.

Another thought—if eventually all life will be obliterated, and there is no ultimate purpose and meaning in living, then why do such secular scientists even worry about what creationists believe!!?

GUITAR REBUTTAL

It has stirred up a little controversy within the office, but because I mentioned the topic in this blog last week and the “controversy” is somewhat lighthearted, I thought I would give some equal time here. “Balanced treatment” is what I would call it.

Here is an email I received from AiG speaker Dr. Tommy Mitchell, who fashions himself as something of a music critic:

Ken,

I felt that I must protest an entry in your blog dated February 21. In that report you told of musician Pat Corn’s visit to the museum. Pat is a world-class musician who spoke and played during our morning staff devotion. While not denying his skill as a guitar player, I must strongly oppose a statement you made regarding the instrument Pat played.

You reported the he played a Maton guitar, which is made in Australia. Further it was reported that he considers this the finest sounding guitar in the world. This is musical heresy! An Australian guitar? What’s it made of—kangaroo wood? Everyone knows that the finest sounding guitars in the world are made right here in America, in Nazareth, Pennsylvania. These are, of course, made by C.F. Martin and Company.

I personally own five of these wonderful instruments and am insulted that you, Ken, even suggest that another guitar sounds better! Perhaps you should think back on all the trips we have made together to the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville (where Bluegrass music was born, by the way). How many Martins did you see and hear on that stage? Our very own Buddy Davis plays a Martin.

I thought I had educated you better on this issue, but I can see we still have some work to do!

I understand your loyalty to your native country, but this—with all due respect—is wrong.”

Well—as I say in some of my talks, “it’s not a matter of whether one is biased or not, but which bias is the best bias to be biased with!”

Question

(Exo 3:11-12)  And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?  And he said, Certainly I will be with thee; and this shall be a token unto thee, that I have sent thee: When thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain.

It is not a question of whom we are to accomplish God’s work, but more of whom God is and that He is with us.
