New Chef—With Some Extra Talents!
Published May 11th, 2008 in Around AiG, Museum UpdatesAiG’s new head chef at the 330-seat café at our Creation Museum (and another café will open soon) is originally from Costa Rica but came to us from Ohio and now lives only a mile from the museum. Solano is his name. He has a 17-month-old son and his wife Monica is from the country of Colombia. He is talented and experienced as a chef but in addition to that, he translates and interprets English-to-Spanish at his church. Solano is able to interpret into Spanish “on the fly” and does not have to wait until the English speaker is finished with his sentences to begin interpreting (they use devices at their church that enable Spanish-speaking people to sit in the regular audience but hear the sermons in Spanish without the interpreter being present in the sanctuary—-Solano is in another room with a special microphone).
Solano (as well as with his Chef responsibilities in the Creation Museum cafés) will be helping us initiate a Spanish group interpretation program here in the museum. He has actually already led some Spanish-speaking groups through the museum in the past—never imagining that he would someday be employed here.
We continually praise the Lord for the talented people He brings to this ministry. I have included two photographs of Solano taken at the Creation Museum.
SENSING LOVE FROM AiG WEBSITE
Over the past couple of years and in preparation for the museum’s opening, AiG staff has made an extra concerted effort to come across with gentleness and respect as the Bible commands us to do as we communicate information to others. We have received NUMEROUS compliments in regard to the attitude people see coming through AiG–this one concerns the website:
Yesterday I spent some time on a website that was filled with people’s responses to the movie ‘Expelled’. There were a lot of people much more intelligent than myself writing, including Richard Dawkins. However, one thing stood out so very clearly. These people were filled with so much anger and hatred, mostly toward creationists. Although their comments often reflected brilliant minds, I was deeply saddened by their mockery & total rejection of anything to do with God.
I know that some creationists can be
insensitive in their remarks about evolutionists at times, but it was so refreshing to come back to your website and sense LOVE! Love for God, and love for people!I know we don’t have all the answers, but I am so proud that you are pursuing scientific understanding as you seek to ‘Love the Lord thy God with all your heart, and your neighbors as yourself!’
Keep up the great work!

UNIQUE USE OF AiG MATERIALS
I thought you would all want to see these encouraging photos of AiG products (Kids Answers poster and the Zoo Guide) being used at a church in Columbus, Ohio—showing a unique use of AiG resources.

DEVOTION
(by Phil Ware at Heartlight)
THANKFUL
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.Thoughts on today’s verse
Where does your heart live? That’s what these verses are all about. Is there a constant awareness in your life that God is present? Is he the unseen but always present companion in all your ups and downs? Or is God here when it is convenient and gone when things are busy? Joy comes from knowing we are never alone. Prayer is the ongoing conversation we have with God. Thanksgiving is the great reminder that we have been blessed no matter what the circumstances may suggest.
Prayer:Precious and Righteous Father, thank you for being there. Give me a deeper appreciation and always more profound awareness of your presence today. May my life reflect the joy you have given me by saving me by grace. And may my heart always find its home in you. Through Jesus I pray. Amen.
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying
Ken
