Serbia and Beowulf

Serbia Service
Dr. Terry Mortenson wound up his speaking ministry in Serbia (and Hungary before that) and is now in the Netherlands (Holland) for several days. Here are excerpts of his most-recent report to me and the staff:
It was a full weekend in Serbia. We arrived and started working on finishing the translation and formatting of my PowerPoint slides for my Saturday night talk on dinosaurs. After the talk we stayed up till 2:30 a.m. to get the slides ready for Sunday morning, when I spoke twice. Sunday afternoon I tweaked the talk for Sunday night, and then after ...
More Japanese Media Cover the Museum
Published September 28th, 2008 in Around AiG, Ministry Updates, Press Coverage
Last Monday, yet another international TV outlet toured the Creation Museum. A three-member crew with NHK---the largest TV network in all of Japan, we understand---toured the museum and interviewed Patrick Marsh, our chief museum designer. It just so happens that Patrick lived in Japan for more than ten years before joining our staff. He felt, though, that his Japanese was too rusty to do the interview in that language, so he just stuck with English!
NHK stands for Nippon Hōsō Kyōkai or the Japan Broadcasting Corporation, and is similar to America’s PBS-TV (but with a much ...
Alumnus of the Year
Published September 27th, 2008 in Feedback, Ministry Updates
AiG is thrilled to be able to congratulate our Director of AiG’s Worldwide outreach, Dr. David Crandall, for receiving the honor of being named “Alumnus of the year” by the Baptist Bible College and Seminary–Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania. Dr. Crandall wrote to me:
I am very much honored that Baptist Bible College and Seminary alumni have selected me as alumnus the year. Thousands of alumni vote every year on this selection. On October 10th I will be honored at a special banquet on Campus. All four of my children are flying in for the event---it is ...
So Long Saipan
Published September 26th, 2008 in Around AiG, Ministry Updates
A report from Dr. Tommy Mitchell on the island of Saipan—he and his wife (Dr. Elizabeth Mitchell) and staff member Laura Perrien will be returning in a few hours from their medical missions trip, with some other ministry while there on this famous island (known for an intense WWII battle and mass suicide).
Greeting from Saipan, where America’s day begins. During the last two weeks AiG's days have begun here too!
The Saipan team has completed the medical outreach portion of the trip. Tuesday evening the final patients were seen. We have spent time dealing with infections and allergy problems primarily over ...
What Is a “VCC Training Class”?
Published September 25th, 2008 in Around AiG, Ministry Updates
“VCC” stands for “Video Conference Coordinator.” Video conferences are a special outreach of AiG run by Bob and Jan Thompson. Volunteer coordinators from across the USA are trained to run AiG video seminars in their local community.
Last Saturday was the 8th VCC training class since the spring of 2006. Twenty couples were represented and traveled from California, Utah, Arkansas, Oklahoma, North Carolina, Tennessee, Illinois, Michigan, South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. Also attending were three VCCs who were previously certified, and they offered extremely valuable help in hosting the large group.

Fantastic New “Dynamation” for Kids
Published September 24th, 2008 in Thoughts and Things
One of my favorite websites for kids (other than AiG’s own Kids Answers site, of course) is a site called “Kids4Truth.”
I encourage you to connect your kids to this website. We personally know the people behind this site, and they are good friends of AiG and ardent biblical creationists.
In particular, I love the “dynamations” they produce. My two favorites are “The Watchmaker” and the new one “Contact.”
I encourage you to view these dynamations and book mark this site. Go to: http://kids4truth.com/hometwo.asp, and from the menu on the right, click on “Multimedia Dynamations” (http://kids4truth.com/screensavers.htm). The ...
“America Is Doomed” If We Believe in Creation
Published September 23rd, 2008 in Around AiG, Ministry Updates
In yet another ignorant editorial piece in a secular news source (The Rutland Herald, Vermont), we read such statements as:
It is profoundly important in a free society to respect an individual’s belief in the Bible; it just happens to be a lousy cornerstone for formulating a science program. Increasingly, our on-again, off-again support for long-term commitments is pushing American involvement in major scientific efforts to one side. Why should Europe, China, Japan or India choose us as a partner when they know we're unlikely to see a 10- or 20-year project through?
This editorial piece is slamming the Republican vice presidential ...
They Took It All!
Published September 22nd, 2008 in My Journeys
I spoke to 6,400 people at Idlewild Baptist Church in Lutz (near Tampa), Florida, yesterday. All the pallets of books and DVDs (except for a handful of Spanish DVDs) were obtained by the people who heard the messages. They took it all! We could have sent a lot more—there is such a hunger for AiG resources when people really understand the importance of the messages we bring.
I am finding more and more people are waking up to the loss of biblical authority in the church and culture—and they also are realizing that they haven’t been giving their children and others ...
Keep on Serving God Even When It’s Hard
Published September 21st, 2008 in My Journeys, Thoughts and Things
One of the thrilling things in our life is to unexpectedly receive a note, phone message, or email just to encourage us. This past week, we received a card addressed to my wife and me just to encourage us and tell us we are being prayed for. What a highlight this was for us. I have included a scan of the card for you to read and be encouraged also.
IN FLORIDA
Today I will have spoken at the two morning services at Idlewild ...
Australian Friends “Blown Away” at Creation Museum
Published September 20th, 2008 in Feedback, My Journeys
We not only see visitors from across the USA, Canada (in increasing numbers), Europe, Japan, and so on—but we have been seeing many more people coming from Australia. The news about the Creation Museum is spreading (though slowly) in my home country. This past week we had two great reports about Australian visitors. The first one is from a lady from New South Wales who brought some friends to visit the Creation Museum.
My Australian friends were literally “blown away" with the whole place. They only had time to see it for a rushed 2 hours, ...
