Do Printed Newspapers Have a Future?
Published October 31st, 2008 in My Journeys, Press Coverage
I have been hearing recently that most major newspapers in the USA are declining in readership (and advertising revenue) and are struggling. Some have already shut down (our local Cincinnati Post stopped printing 10 months ago) or have been reformatted (for example, the long-time national newspaper The Christian Science Monitor will soon be exclusively on-line). This trend really hit home when a reporter from Brazil came by the museum yesterday, and we asked which media outlet he was representing. It wasn’t a newspaper, TV network, or radio station but the website for www.Globo.com, which sent him from Sao ...
Who Should We Vote For?
Published October 30th, 2008 in Ministry Updates, My Journeys
Next week millions of Americans will vote for a new president, as well as congressmen, several senators, and many other official positions. But who should we vote for? (Excuse my informal English here.) Recently I wrote an Answers Update newsletter article (which we also posted to the web) to challenge people concerning the way they will vote. Here are excerpts from this article:
First of all, as a Christian, I recognized that I needed to seek God’s direction, just as the apostle Peter and others did in Acts 1:24: “And they prayed and said, ‘You, Lord, who ...
Creation/Evolution in the News
Published October 29th, 2008 in Current Issues in the World, Thoughts and Things
Hardly a day goes by that the creation/evolution issue isn’t a news item somewhere—often a number of items per day! This just continues to illustrate how vital an issue this really is and how emotional a topic it can be. The secularists know that it is a foundational issue—it’s a shame much of the church doesn’t understand this yet. AiG continues to challenge the church (and culture) concerning this vital topic. Here are just a few (of the many) recent news items to give you a flavor for the sorts of things that appear almost daily:
1. ...
Evolutionist Calls AiG “Morons”
Published October 28th, 2008 in Current Issues in the World, Thoughts and Things
Daniel Phelps is the President of the Kentucky Paleontological Society and an arch opponent of the Creation Museum and AiG ministry. With the position that he holds at the KPS, you would hope that such a person would not stoop to name calling in his opposition to those who believe in the biblical creation message. However, that seems to be the trend these days in evolutionist circles, and Phelps has resorted to just that.
The profile for Daniel Phelps on Amazon.com reads:
I’m now an environmental geologist after a number of years as a petroleum geologist. In addition to ...
Stem Cell DVD Now Available Free Online
Published October 27th, 2008 in Around AiG, Feedback, My Journeys
Recently, one of our supporters contacted us to request that we make available Mike Riddle’s stem cell DVD for a special purpose: because of a constitutional amendment proposed in Michigan related to stem-cell research. Various AiG staff worked quickly to get this done—so now you can view this tremendous video online at AiG’s website.
An AiG supporter wrote:
Thanks [for those] who worked to make the Stem Cell DVD available online quickly, and of course, to Mike Riddle for doing the talk. May the Lord bless you for taking a stand! There is widespread misconception about stem cell ...
Duggars Creation Museum Program November 3
Published October 26th, 2008 in Feedback, My Journeys
Some of you may have heard of the Duggar family—I wrote about them in a previous blog. They are a large home school family in Arkansas whose various exploits are shown on The Learning Channel/Discovery Network TV. The Duggars visited the Creation Museum a few weeks ago. The program re this visit will be aired on November 3 at 10 pm EST. You can get program information at http://tlc.discovery.com/tv/17-kids-and-counting/duggar-family.html
A SON SAVED
Last night, as I walked down to the front of the Michigan auditorium to speak, a man in the front row said, “I ...
McCain and the Creation Museum?
Published October 24th, 2008 in My Journeys, Press Coverage
I knew that headline would get your attention. But it is true—someone has actually written an article linking McCain and the presidential election to the Creation Museum!
On the mythandhope blog [mythandhope.blogspot.com/2008/10/mccain-creation-museum-lead-in-kentucky.html], the mocking blogger states:
It isn't suprising, really, that McCain has a solid lead in Kentucky and should take the state with no problem come November 4. You gotta remember, Kentucky, while a beautiful state in many ways, is the home of the so-called Creation Museum. The people that constructed this monument to ignorance and superstition believe that their skygod created the entire world ...
Global Warming Running “Hot”!
Published October 24th, 2008 in Feedback, Ministry Updates
The new global warming DVD and study guide are “hot” at AiG! Thousands of the DVDs have already been purchased. This high-quality video was produced by AiG and Coral Ridge Ministries. It debunks a lot of the hype and deception in Al Gore’s movie An Inconvenient Truth. Your eyes will be opened, and you will get a whole different (and accurate) understanding of the global warming issues once you watch this fascinating and revealing presentation. If you haven’t obtained this new resource, I urge you to order the DVD and accompanying study ...
AiG’s “Media Empire”
Published October 23rd, 2008 in Around AiG, Current Issues in the World
Currently I am in the midst of an online debate through the popular website www.beliefnet.com with Karl Giberson (director of the Forum on Faith and Science at Gordon College, an evangelical school in Massachusetts) on issues related to Genesis, creation/evolution, etc.
Karl Giberson is also the coauthor with colleague Randall Stephens of an upcoming book to be published by Harvard University Press entitled The Anointed: America’s Evangelical Experts.
Randall Stephens on www.usreligion.blogspot.com states:
My colleague and co-author Karl Giberson is participating in a beliefnet debate with Ken Ham, creationist entrepreneur and voice of protest for millions of ...
Debate Under Way
Published October 22nd, 2008 in Ministry Updates, Museum Updates
The online debate on www.beliefnet.com between Karl Giberson and me is under way with the first two postings on the Beliefnet website at:
http://blog.beliefnet.com/blogalogue/
Evolutionist and Christian author Karl Giberson will now respond with his second posting; then I will respond to that—and then we do the same a third time. It is also interesting to read the comments posted under each posting.
