Others Sharing in the Legacy
Published January 29th, 2009 in Around AiG, FeedbackMy brother Stephen (who lives in Australia) and I wrote a book called Genesis of a Legacy: Raising Godly Children in an Ungodly World. This book was really a personal testimony from us as to how our parents (under the spiritual leadership of our father) trained us to stand on the authority of the Word of God, answer the skeptical questions of the age, and defend the Christian faith—and defend the gospel.
AiG staff also produced a parenting curriculum to go along with this book. A few months ago for the second printing, in order to receive an even wider distribution, we changed the title around so it now reads Raising Godly Children in an Ungodly World: Leaving a Lasting Legacy.
We have received many testimonies from people who have now read this book—from parents challenged regarding their lack of biblical training for their children, and young couples testifying they wanted to ensure they trained their children correctly from birth.
As part of his financial planning business in Australia, Stephen also gives apologetics materials to clients. Here is a testimony from a lady who received Raising Godly Children in an Ungodly World:
I read your book “Raising Godly Children in an Ungodly World”. It is really good. I thoroughly enjoyed it and felt being greatly challenged as a Sunday School teacher. . . . I just realised how much people went through Sunday School in Australia and came out of it, never come back to church again. It makes me reevaluate the role that I played at our Sunday School, whether I am playing my part right, drawing children to know God or pushing them away from God without even knowing it. Your book came in just as a wake up call!
I like a lot of things that your book talked about, behaviour modification vs. sanctification is one of them that I liked very much. It certainly helped me to be more conscious about setting the priority right. So thank you for your book.
If you have never read a copy of the book Raising Godly Children in an Ungodly World, you can obtain a copy from the AiG website bookstore. You can also get a copy of the unique parenting curriculum that goes along with it.

Devotion
Not more secure
(Habakkuk 3:17–18) Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
Even though there may be an economic downturn that turns to depression, we could not be more secure with the Lord Jesus Christ living inside of us.
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
Ken
