Lessons from Japan
Published August 31st, 2009 in Museum Updates, My Journeys, Press Coverage
After the very successful Creation Conference we held a few days ago in Japan (and the videotaping of my translated presentations), Mally and I had the opportunity to do a little bit of touring with our good friend Michiko (she runs the Japanese office of Creation Research Japan). I have many photos and wanted to share just a few of them with you that I found quite fascinating in what one can learn from knowing the background to them.
Japanese Tea Ceremony
We were able to observe a Japanese tea ceremony. We watched as first of all a couple of small sweet ...
Summer Vacation?
Published August 30th, 2009 in Current Issues in the World, My Journeys
Last week I flew over the island of Papua New Guinea on a flight from Japan (where I spoke earlier that week). Right down below, a former Answers in Genesis staff member—and the daughter of one of our excellent speakers, Dr. Tommy Mitchell—had been ministering recently. Tommy shared something of what his daughter Mary's mission work had entailed during her summer break from college:
Mary recently returned from a three-month missionary internship in Papua New Guinea, the world's second largest island and home to hundreds of distinct languages. Most of these languages have never had a single verse of ...
A Crisp Message
Published August 29th, 2009 in Around AiG
We continue to feature some fine preaching for our staff on Thursday mornings. Each work day starts in prayer, but on Thursdays (and many Tuesdays) we also have a special guest address our staff with a devotional and/or report on their ministry.
Pastor Ron Crisp, for 22 years the pastor of First Baptist Church of Independence, Kentucky (about 30 minutes from our offices) gave our staff a very practical message from the book of Philippians. In the front row was his wife Linda, who has worked in our accounting office for almost 10 years. Pastor Crisp also told the staff that ...
Scenic Wonders at the Creation Museum and in Arizona
Published August 28th, 2009 in Ministry Updates, Museum Updates
Before I get to our report on a unique raft trip through the Grand Canyon that was conducted recently, I wanted to show you a photo taken on an unusual foggy morning for us at the Creation Museum in Northern Kentucky earlier this week. The photo is by Matt Graubner of our staff, who came early to the museum on Tuesday and walked through our lush botanical gardens and took some photos. By the way, we are closing in on 850,000 visitors in just 27 months!
A few weeks ...
Minds and Hearts Changed through Creation Ministry
Published August 27th, 2009 in Feedback
A man from Fisher, Illinois, visited the Creation Museum recently, and when he left, there had been quite a change in his view of the book of Genesis. Before coming, he said he would have called himself an old-earth creationist. In college, he studied archaeology, geology, anthropology, biology, and astronomy. When asked which museum exhibit convinced him to change his way of thinking, he said it was the information on radiohalo dating (it just so happens that yesterday’s lead article on our website dealt with radiohalos: Radiohalos in the Shap Granite, Lake District, England). He was also impressed ...
See—and Hear—the Petting Zoo
Published August 26th, 2009 in Museum Updates
Dr. Tommy Mitchell, a full-time speaker with Answers in Genesis for almost three years now—but who is also a long-time friend of ours—has been keeping very busy in recent months. Even though many ministries see a slowdown in activity during the summer, we certainly haven’t! Tommy has spoken at numerous churches, apologetics conferences, and homeschool conferences over the summer. In addition he and our other speakers have been participating in our popular "Speaker Series" talks at the Creation Museum when not on the road.
If you talk to Tommy about his summer’s work, however, what you’ll most likely ...
While I Was in Japan . . .
Published August 25th, 2009 in Museum Updates
Well, it’s always exciting (yet tiring) to travel internationally and give several talks, but one of the unfortunate things about being away from the offices is missing so many fascinating individuals who continue to pour through the doors of our Creation Museum.
On one day alone recently: Mr. Dan Cathy, president and CEO of Chick-fil-A, which has about 1500 restaurants throughout the United States. He only had about 2 hours to spend with us because of his own hectic schedule in our Cincinnati metropolitan area, but he was certainly impressed with the museum and its exhibits. What really caught his ...

What incredible creature is this photo? It was just born at the Creation Museum. (By the way, this photo has not been altered in any way.) Hint: it is not a gecko. (Click the photo to enlarge it.)
Send your guess to correspondence[at]answersingenesis.org (replace the [at] with the @ symbol). We’ll give you the answer in tomorrow’s blog post.
On the Road
Dr. Terry Mortenson, one of our full-time speakers (most of them were like me this past weekend—speaking somewhere around the world; I’m in Japan right now) wrote to ...
Bott Here to the Museum
Published August 23rd, 2009 in Ministry Updates, My Journeys
Dick Bott, founder of the Bott Broadcasting Network (which airs our "Answers" radio program on its large network, from California to Tennessee) visited the Creation Museum recently. In this photo, he's to the far right. Pastor Bill Owens and his wife Deborah of Memphis, Tennessee, Rich Bott (Executive VP of the Bott Network out of the Kansas City area), and I stand with Dick in the museum's portico.
Last year, Dick was inducted into the National Religious Broadcasters "Hall of Fame" (the NRB is the world's largest association of ...
Reporting from Japan
Published August 22nd, 2009 in Ministry Updates, My Journeys
As I looked out of my hotel room in Tokyo on Friday morning, I thought of the 13 million people or so who live in Tokyo—and the 130 million who live in all of Japan—most of whom do not know the Lord.
Caught up in Shintoism and Buddhism, Japan has probably only 0.1 percent Christians. Of course the one conference I am speaking at can only reach a very small number of people here—seems almost insignificant compared to the population. ...
