The Science of Darwin's Evolution

What did Darwin say in his “Origin of Species?” Has it stood up to the scientific evidence? You will delve into such topics as the struggle for existence, natural selection, mutations, the geologic record, and homology. Throughout his presentation, Dr. Menton evaluates the claims of evolution in light of the evidence discovered since Darwin’s time. He concludes by answering the question, “Is evolution necessary to the study of biology”

Presented at 12:00 on Thursday, July 9, this presentation is part of the Museum’s Answers Speaker Series and is free with Museum admission or membership. Seating is first come first served, so you’ll want to arrive early to make sure you can hear this engaging presentation. Dr. Menton was associate professor of anatomy for many years at the respected Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and holds a PhD in cell biology from the Ivy League, Brown University.
