Southern Seminary Dean speaks at AiG

by Ken Ham

During the year, AiG invites Christian leaders from various denominations to be a guest speaker for our morning devotions. Today (Wednesday), we had the privilege of having the Dean of the School of Theology at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (Louisville, KY) as our guest speaker. Many staff commented that he was one of the best speakers ever at AiG. His talk made him sound like a veteran AiG speaker! He was so good, I really wanted as many people as possible to hear his talk. I have included the link below so you can listen to it from my blog.

Dr. Russell D. Moore became Dean of the School of Theology and Senior Vice President for Academic Administration of the seminary in January 2004. Moore is the author of a number of books and has been published in various journals including the Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society, Southern Baptist Journal of Theology, Journal for Biblical Manhood and Womanhood, and SBC Life. Moore also serves as the Executive Director of the Carl F.H. Henry Institute for Evangelical Engagement and is a regular columnist for the Baptist Press. Moore has served on the pastoral staffs of two Mississippi Baptist churches. Prior to entering the ministry, he was an aide to U.S. Congressman Gene Taylor (D-Miss.).

THRILLING EMAIL--I'M NO LONGER A "CRAZY BIBLE PREACHER"

You will enjoy this email we received today:

When I first heard Ken Ham on the radio talking about a creation museum, I thought what a lunatic idea, what kind of right wing crazy bible preacher was he, How could anyone believe this nonsense. Now I am a charter member of the creation museum. And I firmly believe in what answers in Genesis has to say, and firmly believe in their goal and message.

The road to this belief took time and much research on my part. Your web site was amazing in the amount and quality of information, and really helped me deepen my faith. I am also happy to say that this road opened my mind and my heart to God. My story on getting to this conclusion is a long story , I think that it might help others, is this something that you would like me to share?"

WOE UNTO THEM THAT CALL EVIL GOOD, AND GOOD EVIL (Isa 5:20)

We received a news item today based on a report that purports to have found that believing in God actually increases murder rates etc. You need to read this. It is an attempt to counter the message of conservative Christianity. Humanists will stop at nothing to blast Christians. I've pasted in a few quotes from the article, and then link for you to read the rest:

"In general, higher rates of belief in and worship of a creator correlate with higher rates of homicide, juvenile and early adult mortality, STD infection rates, teen pregnancy and abortion in the prosperous democracies"

"RELIGIOUS belief can cause damage to a society, contributing towards high murder rates, abortion, sexual promiscuity and suicide, according to research published today."

"According to the study, belief in and worship of God are not only unnecessary for a healthy society but may actually contribute to social problems."

"The study counters the view of believers that religion is necessary to provide the moral and ethical foundations of a healthy society."

As well as giving some special guest tours of the facility, meeting with various staff, still battling computer issues, I was able to get home and mow the lawn! Then my wife informed me we were going out to watch the 'Batman Begins' movie--but I got into trouble for checking emails on my Treo in the middle of the movie!

Keep praying for our staff member Tressa who is still in critical condition.

Thanks for stopping by and keep praying!
