Men and Women of Integrity

by Ken Ham

Some of the AiG staff today had the pleasure of hearing Rev. Charles Simmons, pastor of the Berean Bible Church in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is pictured here with Carl Kerby, one of AiG’s speakers who spoke at Rev. Simmons’ church.

His preaching style is very engaging, and with a little work, he had us interjecting our “Amens” to keep him going! His mini-sermon focused on Genesis 39:1–9. In this passage, we learn of the rise of Joseph in Potiphar’s household. We also learn of Potiphar’s wife’s attraction for Joseph and Joseph’s refusal of her requests—a sign of integrity.

Rev. Simmons challenged each of us to be a person of integrity in every aspect of our lives just as Joseph was in this instance. Many times throughout the passage, we are reminded of the Lord’s blessing of Joseph and Potiphar’s household because of Joseph. In the same way, the Lord has been blessing AiG and the Creation Museum. Like Joseph, we need to stand firm on the authority of God’s Word and be men and women of integrity.

Rev. Simmons reminded us that, even though we are men and women of Christ, we can still fall into temptation and succumb to sin. Not only will this affect our integrity as individuals but also that of AiG and ultimately of Christ. The world is waiting to pounce on anything that might show us to be hypocrites of what we preach as seen in recent scandals involving evangelical Christians. So we need to remain of high integrity, and we need the prayers of the faithful to help us accomplish this goal.

At AiG, we receive feedback that, as the Lord blesses, we are making a difference in people’s lives. So Satan would like nothing more than to destroy AiG, whether outside the ministry or from within. Jesus reminds us that if the world hates you, then it hated him first (John 15:18), so we should expect spiritual attacks.

But we also know this, “I the Lord do not change” (Malachi 3:6). Just as the Lord does not change, neither do his Words, and we can trust that if we are men and women of integrity not only will we be blessed, but so will AiG. Please pray for the integrity of us who work at AiG. As the Creation Museum gets closer to opening, the spiritual attacks will get even stronger. We are thankful for pastors like Rev. Simmons, who believe in the authority of God’s Word from beginning to end and bring us great reminders in this sin-cursed world to retain high integrity.
