Part 1
In my last blog, I linked to an article about our Answers for Darwin conferences that appeared on the Christian Post website. The same article has appeared now on an Australian website: Christian Today–Australia. The article begins:
While hundreds of celebrations worldwide will be marking the 200th anniversary of Charles Darwin’s birth beginning in February, one creationist ministry will be holding conferences to refute the famed scientist’s theory of evolution.
You can read the rest of the article here.
Today we leave Modesto, California, to stay with some friends until Friday when the Answers for Darwin conference begins in Costa Mesa–which is just south of Los Angeles. You can find all the details of the free conference on our AiG website.
Yesterday I spoke four times and also did a live radio interview (by phone) with a St. Louis station (on the topic of Darwin’s birthday–he’s 200 years old next week).
Part 2
Last night, a lady came to me during our Modesto meeting and told me she heard me in the city of Perth in Western Australia over 20 years ago. (I have spoken in Western Australia a number of times over the years). She said she still remembers me talking about the Flood, and it had a great impact on her as a 13 year old. Now she is married and homeschooling her children and bringing them up on AiG material. One never knows how the Lord will use the ministry He has called us to in people’s lives.
We had a good crowd of people last night turn out for the final evening of the AiG conference. Again, I had many testimonies from people whose lives have been changed by God using the AiG teaching.
Part 3
Celebrating Darwin’s birthday Down Under: on the Gold Coast, a major coastal community south of the city of Brisbane (Queensland), the Gold Coast Humanist Society is making a big issue of this Darwin year and the 200th anniversary of Darwin’s birth this month for school students. A news report states concerning an aircraft they will be using:
The aircraft will fly east to the coast, then turn north travelling along the coast to Paradise Point, returning to Murwillumbah flying in a corridor bounded by the Gold Coast Highway and the Expressway. The aircraft will be in the air for two hours. A diversion to the route will occur when the aircraft performs a fly-over in the sky above the small primary school at Ingleside (inland from Burleigh Heads).
At the time of the fly-over a local resident and parent Brad Solomon will present the children of the Ingleside School with a set of books on science. The books are a Darwin’s Day gift presentation from The Humanist Society of Queensland.
The initiative is part of a worldwide birthday celebration drawing attention to the outstanding intellectual achievement of Charles Darwin in providing a factual account of how life on planet Earth evolved.
The Gold Coast celebration has been organised by the Darwinists Down Under, the group members are from the ranks of the Gold Coast Skeptics and the Humanist Society of Qld [Queensland].
Teaching God’s Truth to Students
I praise the Lord for the opportunities AiG has to help build the hearts and minds of young people on God’s infallible Word. Yesterday in Modesto, I spent an hour and a half in the morning doing a special program for kindergarten through grade 6—and an hour and a half yesterday afternoon with a special program geared for junior and senior high school students. Students from Christian schools, home schools, and some who were able to get permission to be absent from their public schools poured into the auditorium.
Afterwards children lined up for autographs or to get photos. It is so thrilling to see these young people on fire for the Lord. So many of them just wanted to thank me and tell me they just love this information and that it makes the Bible so real to them.
AiG staff member Perry Petrushko took the following photographs that capture some of the atmosphere:
Operation Space
Last week, AiG’s Director of Product Development, Dan Zordel, introduced the AiG staff to the new VBS program for this year—Operation Space.
I must admit, I am amazed by the professionalism and the talent. I really believe this VBS would rival any of the VBS publishers that have produced such programs for years. AiG’s VBS teaches children biblical authority, apologetics (how to defend the Christian faith), and the clear gospel message.
I also love the robot called “Orbit.”
More and more churches are obtaining AiG’s VBS programs, for they don’t just teach Bible stories, they teach the Bible as real history, instill in kids a real understanding of the Bible’s authority, teach them how to answer the skeptical questions of this age, connect the Bible to the real world, and instruct them concerning the gospel and their need for salvation.
You can find out about Orbit and Operation Space from AiG’s website. You can view promotional DVDs there. Encourage your church to use Operation Space for the VBS this year. AiG is also offering last year’s VBS, Amazon Expedition—a walk through the 7 C’s of history—with an emphasis on apologetics and evangelism.
Devotion
Simply worship
(Luke 24:52) And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:
Hesitation and doubt turns to joy as we break through all the bad news on earth to simply worship the Lord Jesus Christ for who He is.
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
Ken
