Former Debate Opponent on TV’s O’Reilly Factor/ASU Professor Blasphemes Our Lord

“ . . . forget Jesus; the stars died so that you can be here, today,” is a comment from Lawrence M. Krauss, Foundation Professor in the School of Earth and Space Exploration and Physics Department, and Inaugural Director of the Origins Initiative, at Arizona State University. He spoke about humans supposedly coming from star dust (in an obviously mocking tone). You can watch his short video on YouTube below.

Dr. Krauss was a very vocal opponent of the Creation Museum when it first opened in 2007 (while he was a professor in the Cleveland, Ohio, area). In fact, he made some scathing attacks on the Creation Museum, including a commentary in the Cincinnati Enquirer newspaper (although he had not bothered to visit the museum). He was an advisory board member of the now-defunct group “Campaign to Defend the Constitution” (DefCon); DefCon members were out in front of our museum gates as protestors of the museum (not defenders of free speech!) when we opened in May 2007 (but Dr. Krauss did not tour the museum at that time). At about the same time, Dr. Krauss debated me on live national TV on the popular program, The O’Reilly Factor, on the Fox Network.

Krauss himself got criticism from some in the secular press because he had not even visited the museum to see it for himself. Presumably because of this criticism, he did come some time later and walked through the Creation Museum exhibits with AiG’s CCO, Mark Looy. Mark actually timed Krauss’s visit. He took a whole 22 minutes to walk through the museum, most of the time asking Mark Looy questions and only occasionally glancing at some of the exhibits. Considering it would take a person nearly one and a half hours to watch the programs in the various theatres, including the Planetarium and SFX theatre, plus take 2 hours to watch all the 50-plus videos in the various exhibits, and a further two hours to read all the signage—it was obvious Krauss wasn’t the least bit interested in researching the content of the museum (as one would expect from a real scientist and well-known anti-creationist commentator), but only visited presumably to tell people he has seen the Creation Museum and thus could comment on it—what a farce!

In an emotionally charged negative article against the Creation Museum, a scientist who has not visited the Museum, has not read any of the teaching signs, nor seen any of the videos, wrote an opinion piece for the Cincinnati Enquirer newspaper, in which he used the following terms regarding the Creation Museum exhibits: “scientific fraud,” “lies,” “a travesty,” “false,” “misguided,” “misinformation,” “colossal unreason,” “hypocritical,” “misrepresent,” “bad science,” “manifestly false,” and “religiously motivated fraud.”

Notice three things:

1. He openly mocks and blasphemes Jesus Christ
2. Sadly, note the reaction of the audience
3. Can you imagine what would happen if Krauss dared mock Mohammed or Allah, or the Islamic religion in some way?! He would probably be fired from the university, let alone face all the other problems he would have in any backlash—yet secular universities seem to allow Christianity to be mocked and for God to be blasphemed—political correctness obviously applies to how people treat other religions, but not to how one treats Christianity.

Krauss is considered to be one of the leading cosmologists and evolutionists in the United States. Though not all cosmologists are this blasphemous, they almost all share the same evolutionary view of the universe and life.

Christians who say that the age of the creation doesn’t matter, and that we can accept the evolutionary cosmologists’ (and geologists’) billions-of-years history, are mistaken to think that naturalism is only controlling the field of biology. Naturalism influences geology and astronomy just as much as biology. It is a historical fact that naturalism took control of geology and astronomy before Darwin applied the same philosophical interpretive worldview to biology. The battle over the age of the earth is exactly the same as the battle over creation (or intelligent design); it is all a fight of worldviews: naturalism vs. the Word of God. And it all started in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. What Krauss is doing is indoctrinating students (and others) in his anti-God religion of naturalism, and as part of doing this, blaspheming the Christian God. He (and many like him) are actually religious zealots bent on attacking Christianity and taking as many with them as they can in their anti-Christian rant.

Devotion

As soon as Jesus heard the word . . . He said:

While he yet spoke, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house certain which said, Your daughter is dead: why trouble you the Master any further? As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he said unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe. (Mark 5:35-36)

This world’s voice distresses our soul; the Lord Jesus Christ has one remedy for us, His counter Voice in the Bible, and our state depends on which voice we listen to.

I pray Lawrence Krauss would listen to the voice of the Lord and be saved for eternity.
