I Am Not Ashamed in USA Today

The first of a series of three advertisements appeared in yesterday’s largest U.S. newspaper to announce the launch of the “I am not ashamed” campaign. We have had previous blog posts and articles about this campaign on our website. The concept is to let the Bible speak for itself and call on Christians in America to be more bold in standing up for God’s Word. The advertisement yesterday read:

The Bible speaks for itself on marriage—God made them male and female, Mark 10:6.

People were then directed to the www.iamnotashamed.org website. Today’s advertisement deals with abortion—get your copy of USA Today and see how boldly and unashamedly we are quoting God’s Word publicly in dealing with this moral issues. On Wednesday, the advertisement deals with the state of the nation.

Also yesterday, we launched television advertisements on the Fox News channel. These advertisements show a number of people stating they are not ashamed of the gospel and not ashamed of the Word of God and encourages them to become a part of the world’s first online video Bible. Then people are directed to the www.iamnotashamed.org website. On the website, you will be instructed on how you can be one of 8,000 people reading four verses of Scripture to produce the world’s first online video Bible. Anyone can do this from anywhere in the world.

We are also releasing a series of billboards that a growing number of people and churches are sponsoring. These billboards deal with five topics: marriage, abortion, racism, the state of the nation, and creation. There will also be advertisements placed in various magazines. You can also sponsor the various advertisements in your local newspaper etc.

One church from the Atlanta, Georgia, area recently decided to sponsor the five billboards, exhibiting each one for three months consecutively—that means they will be unashamedly quoting God’s Word in public like this for 15 months!

The “I am not ashamed” campaign is just gearing up! We urge you to be a part of it and support this powerful venture—to let God’s Word speak for itself across the nation and encourage more and more of God’s people to unashamedly and publicly stand on the authority of the Word of God.

Humans Becoming Immortal Through Nanotechnology?

A recent news report had the headline:

Nanotech Could Make Humans Immortal by 2040, Futurist Says

The article then stated:

In 30 or 40 years, we’ll have microscopic machines traveling through our bodies, repairing damaged cells and organs, effectively wiping out diseases. The nanotechnology will also be used to back up our memories and personalities.

In an interview with Computerworld, author and futurist Ray Kurzweil said that anyone alive come 2040 or 2050 could be close to immortal. The quickening advance of nanotechnology means that the human condition will shift into more of a collaboration of man and machine, as nanobots flow through human blood streams and eventually even replace biological blood, he added.

That may sound like something out of a sci-fi movie, but Kurzweil, a member of the Inventor’s Hall of Fame and a recipient of the National Medal of Technology, says that research well underway today is leading to a time when a combination of nanotechnology and biotechnology will wipe out cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, obesity and diabetes.

Now, notice in the text of the article, the person being interviewed said “close to immortal.” He is certainly not game to make the statement the headline does!

However, regardless, I can categorically state that man will never be able to use technology to make humans immortal—never. How can I be so absolutely sure?

God’s Word makes it clear in Genesis that because of our rebellion (sin) in Adam, we are all subject to the death penalty:

. . . but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die (Genesis 2:17).

In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for dust you are, and to dust you shall return (Genesis 3:19).

Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned (Romans 5:12).

And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment (Hebrews 9:27).

There are, of course, many other such Scriptures in whiche the Bible makes it clear that every human being will die (unless the Lord returns before that time). God’s Word also makes it clear there will be death until the Lord returns and makes a new heavens and a new earth. We are warned about a “second death,” which is eternal separation from God:

Revelation 2:11—He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death.

Revelation 20:6—Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power.

Revelation 20:14—Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

Revelation 21:8—But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.

Back in the Garden, when the serpent tempted Adam and Eve, the temptation was that they “could be as gods.” In other words, they could be their own “god.” Ever since, man has been trying to act as god—and we see that even today as frail, fallible, sinful, finite humans think they can make themselves immortal in these physical bodies. Yes, all humans will live forever, but either with God or separated from Him.

Try as they may, humans will never ever be able to construct technology that will result in humans becoming immortal. I can state this with conviction because God’s Word categorically denies it could ever happen.

The Mysterious Islands

Last evening at the National Religious Broadcasters Convention in Nashville, Doug Philips from Vision Forum showed the audience a trailer of their new powerful documentary entitled The Mysterious Islands. This documentary about Darwin’s ideas and what he found at the Galapagos Islands is a must for you to obtain, watch, and show to others because:

  1. It is a creationist documentary—and by far the best such creationist documentary about Darwin and the Galapagos available today.
  2. The photography is outstanding.
  3. The biblical message is strong and can’t be missed.
  4. It will give you a better idea of what Darwin based his ideas upon.

You can find out more about this documentary and order it with a special Answers magazine combo deal from the AiG online bookstore.

I have included a photograph I took inside the Opryland Resort and Convention Center where the NRB convention is being held:

Devotion

Changes

(Psalm 55:19) Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God.

Our first reaction is to resent the changes in our life of predictable constancy, but those changes cast us on the Lord Jesus Christ and cause us to see His power

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
