This Tuesday, Mike Matthews, the magazine’s editor in chief, will be hosting a live chat session on the magazine’s Facebook page. Mike will be taking questions about the lead article from the April–June issue of Answers, which he cowrote with Answers in Genesis’ director of research, Dr. Andrew Snelling—When Was the Ice Age in Biblical History?

Here are some snippets from the article about the Ice Age:

The Bible doesn’t say, “And then there was an Ice Age.” Yet it does give us the big picture of human history—as well as some critical details—which help us narrow down when the ice built up and then melted away. . . .

So it is reasonable to conclude that the start of the Ice Age in the Northern Hemisphere (the Pleistocene) roughly coincides with the Babel judgment, around a century or so after the Flood (perhaps 2250 BC). . . .

The Bible also sheds light on the Ice Age’s end, though in an indirect way. If we can determine the dates of the first cities built after Babel, including Ur, and then show their relationship with dates for the last human and animal remains from the Ice Age, we can establish approximately when the Ice Age ended.”

In the course of his extensive research for this article, Mike found some significant correlations between archaeological discoveries and the biblical record of Noah’s Flood, the dispersion from Babel, and the birth of Abraham. UK’s Dr. Andy McIntosh speaks in NY and Pennsylvania

My good friend Professor Andy C. McIntosh (U. of Leeds) has had a distinguished career in researching and lecturing on thermodynamics and combustion theory for over 30 years, and he is a good friend of our sister ministry, Answers in Genesis UK.

Andy became a Christian in 1969. At the University in Wales, he realized that the issue of biblical authority was intricately linked with the issue of creation. Today, he can often be found speaking on the topic of creation in the UK, but this week, he will be on our side of “the pond” giving a number of creation lectures and engaging in some debates.
