Burdened to Share the Gift

by Ken Ham

I hope you will have a blessed Christmas!

One of our family traditions at Christmas, as we freely give gifts to our close family and friends, is to remind each other of the free gift of salvation in Christ.

And we need to be reminded (daily) that:

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23)

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God. (Ephesians 2:8)

Recently, after being interviewed for about four minutes on Fox and Friends (Fox News TV network), many atheists responded to my comments on their blogs and websites, with considerable antagonism because I was allowed a few minutes to plainly share the gospel and stand for the truth of God’s Word. Many of the statements people wrote in the comments section of blogs and websites in response to the bloggers’ antagonistic statements against me (and also against the interviewer for even allowing me time to speak) reminded me how desperately these people need the free gift of salvation.

Here are just a few such comments as examples of the antagonism:

The ignorant will continue to be ignorant because ... well because they can and because they are too lazy to actually learn anything that has any significance or connection to reality. It's easier to go to church and have the preacher there tell you everything you need to know about life. Your 1 hour per week nugget of nonsense.
Ken Ham is a charlatan and a complete buffoon, to admit to being a creationist is like saying that you are proud to be ignorant and totally unable to comprehend science or the scientific method. Do they not realise what a huge embarrassment they are, both to themselves and to America's image in the rest of the world … The absurd pseudo-scientific claims made by creationists and the (un)intelligent design lobby are laughable in their ineptitude and are treated as a complete joke outside of Hicksville USA. Please USA, educate your people, you are becoming a laughing stock!
My message has never been that god isn't real. I can't prove that. No ... my message has always been that people like Hasselbeck [the Fox TV host] are deluded and conned by religious conmen like Ham.
Ham is not a moron. He is a con man. He knows how to fleece the religious people. Unfortunately it seems to be in the genes of humanity to believe in something. It would be very difficult to convince any significant portion of the population to give up on their comfortable belief.
Good thing Ken Ham was there to stand up for God. The all powerful omniscient needs all the help he can get.
Only a psychopath needs the threat of hell or the promise of heaven to be a good person.
Why do you depend on an imaginary sky fairy to have morals? Are you just that much of an a---- [expletive deleted] that you have to be threatened or bribed into not hurting others?
It is crazy to think about how Christians revere a book that is essentially a book on past rapist and child molesters. How many famous people in the Bible would be put in jail today for the things they did. I have had Christians tell me that times were different then. I guess rape, murder, slavery, genocide, and all the other things that are praised in the Bible are good unless your non-Christian.
Putting Ham on the air in the first place is irresponsible journalism. The guy is a fringe wacko who happens to have bilked enough of his followers to build a permanent carnival side show.
Ken Ham and his ilk are perpetually in the "me" phase that most grow out of at age three.
Hasselbeck and Ham -- together they have an IQ of negative 50.
Now, I know many of you did not like reading those comments. But we need to be aware that there is an increasing number of people in this culture who are lost—very lost! They so need the gift of salvation. When I read these comments, I didn’t get angry—I am burdened. I’m burdened to seek the Lord and ask how we can reach these people so they will understand the free gift they need to receive—a gift that will change them for eternity.

I pray that these people will be like the woman at the well in John 4. Yes, she seemed to react in a sneering way at first as Jesus, our Creator and Savior, talked with her about the well and water.

Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” The woman said to Him, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water? Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, as well as his sons and his livestock?” Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”

The woman said to Him, “Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw.” (John 4:10–15)

But a little later, she begins to realize who she was talking to:
The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah is coming” (who is called Christ). “When He comes, He will tell us all things.” Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am He.” And at this point His disciples came, and they marveled that He talked with a woman; yet no one said, “What do You seek?” or, “Why are You talking with her?”

The woman then left her waterpot, went her way into the city, and said to the men, “Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?” (John 4:25–29)

Oh how I pray that those people (like the authors of the comments above) who sneer at the Lord Jesus Christ would come to recognize that He is the Christ—their Creator and Savior.

It is my burden and prayer that we do whatever we can to reach the lost with the message of the free gift of salvation:

That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,

Ken
