Drawing Dinosaurs!

Dinosaurs are fun to draw! Did you know that there is a way to draw dinosaurs from a biblical point of view? You will learn that and more in the ‘Drawing Dinosaurs’ workshop being offered as an “Answers for Kids” workshop.

On April 7 and 8, Answers in Genesis staff photographers Marty and Deb Minnard conducted the Creation Museum’s first photography workshop. Deb had this to say about the experience:

The…workshop was a wonderful experience for Marty and I to teach. The people were enthusiastic, positive and talented. It is always gratifying to teach those who wish to learn. We were amazed and delighted by the quality of the images our students produced. We are looking forward to the next workshop.

The next workshop will be taking place on July 14 and 15. More details will be coming soon, but for now we want to leave you with some excellent pictures from the first workshop.

Wonderful Spring Weather

The weather has been getting warmer lately, with many signs of spring appearing on the grounds of the Creation Museum, like the many thousands of flowers planted by our hard working grounds team. Many guests are taking advantage of the beautiful days to stroll through the botanical gardens. Not only can you experience the Resurrection Walk cell phone tour, but you can also find five bridges, picnic pavilions, and the Petting Zoo.

In fact the weather is nice enough that we are planning to hold our popular Snakes Alive in one of our garden pavilions. We expect to continue to do this during the warm months of the summer, so plan.

Come and visit the Museum soon to enjoy everything we have to offer. Also be sure to check our Events calendar to see what special events are being planned for the summer and beyond.

You can also enjoy the gardens through the photography from our first Photography Workshop. We will be posting selected pictures from the workshop in this space over the coming week, so come back to see what wonderful sights you can see!

Clear Skies and Bright Stars

Thursday evening was a beautifully clear night for gazing at the stars. We started out the evening outside focused on the bright star Sirius, and then a couple of the telescopes were focused on the planet Mercury. Dr. Lisle commented that it was the best view he had ever seen of this planet. As Mercury started to set we moved to the planet Saturn. The ringed planet was a beautiful sight, with its rings almost edge on and three of its moons, including the largest, Titan, were also visible. The Orion Nebula was another favorite sight in the night’s viewing. We concluded the evening looking at a wide selection of star clusters and galaxies.

Several other Stargazer’s Nights are planned throughout the summer. We plan for an exciting session outside with the telescopes; but if the skies are cloudy Dr. Lisle will head inside for a unique teaching session utilizing the state of the art digital projector and domed ceiling of the Planetarium. Either way this will be a one-of-a-kind journey through the cosmos that you will thoroughly enjoy and not soon forget.
