Tomorrow The Ocean Adventure returns to the Creation Museum. Once again Wayne and Karen Brown will lead an exciting adventure diving into the ocean.

The last time they came to the Creation Museum they showed us an expedition to the Caribbean Sea; and this time they’ll return in search of humpback whales! You can journey along with the Browns on a thrilling adventure in search of humpback whales in the warm waters of the Silver Bank by the Caribbean Sea!

Using unique props, specimens, breathtaking photography, storytelling techniques, and audience participation, this presentation will allow you to experience an actual expedition exploring the world of the humpbacked whales from the Caribbean Sea to the North Atlantic. You’ll see male humpback whales competing for mates and hear males singing underwater love songs to attract females. The highlight of the presentation is a swim with a mother humpback whale and her newborn baby. You’ll then journey on to Gloucester, Massachusetts where the Browns will join one of the Silver Bank whale researchers on another expedition boat as they travel to the humpback whales’ feeding grounds in cold waters of the Stellwagen Bank, off the coast of Massachuesetts. You’ll even see mother humpbacks teaching their babies how to catch their food by making “bubble nets”.

You can read more about the Browns at their website. They are a husband and wife underwater explorer team combining their talents as marine biologist, pilot, actor, comedian, artist, authors, lecturers, storytellers, educators, scuba diving instructors, award-winning underwater photographers.

These exciting shows will take place at 12:00 and 5:00. The cost for this presentation is just $4.00 per person (children under two admitted free).

One of the chameleons in the museum exhibit drew a small crowd of employees this evening as she dug a hole, into which she deposited nine eggs. After five months of development, babies will emerge from the tiny eggs. The babies are remarkable because they are fully developed, with the complex eyes, tail, and other features of the adult chameleons, even at an incredibly small size. It is surprising that so many complex parts can fit into such a small package.

The chameleons on display at the museum now are called quadricornis, or four-horned, chameleons. The museum’s male actually has 7 horns, and some males of this species have 8, although 4 is the most common number. The four-horned chameleon is a medium-sized species of chameleon from Cameroon. The male has an impressive sailfin on its back and on part of the tail. They are mostly bright green but sport robin egg blue, rust, and even yellow in places.

Watching a chameleon lay eggs can be exciting, as many staff discovered today. She will search for a suitable spot, then dig a hole or tunnel that is approximately 12” deep. She backs into the tunnel and deposits the eggs safely, then fills the hole in with dirt until it is practically undetectable.

We removed the eggs and placed them in an incubator for the duration of their development. It should be exciting watching the eggs hatch in about five months!

Then Dr. Mortenson explains some of the growing geological and fossil evidence for this event, along with reasons for not trusting radiometric dating methods, which evolutionists claim as proof of millions of years. People will see that they have been brainwashed by the evolutionary establishment.

Presented at 3:00 on Thursday, October 29, this presentation is part of the Museum’s Answers Speaker Series and is free with Museum admission or membership. Seating is first come first served, so you’ll want to arrive early to make sure you can hear this engaging presentation. With a Ph.D. in the history of geology from the University of Coventry in England, Dr. Terry Mortenson has been studying and speaking on the creation-evolution controversy throughout North America and Europe since the late 1970s. To learn more about Dr. Terry Mortenson please click here.

Keep an eye on our Events Calendar for more upcoming talks. Just this week you can hear excellent speakers like Dr. Georgia Purdom, Bodie Hodge, Mike Riddle, Dr. David Menton, and Chris Russell!

The race course ran on back roads near the Creation Museum where trees lining the roads looked especially beautiful in their fall colors.

A water station was set up at the turn around point, staffed by volunteers!

Even if they were tired, the runners still had fun.

A hard working team of volunteers kept track of the times as runners finished. Our first place finisher was Stephen P., with a time of 20:28.

Dinosaur bones + Montana + Buddy Davis = the ultimate field trip!

Have you ever wished you could hunt for dinosaur bones in the western United States? Can you imagine digging for fossils alongside fellow creationists, while learning in the field about fossils, dinosaurs, the flood and more from a biblical perspective? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you! We planned the first Creation Museum Dinosaur Dig for July of 2010, and there was so much interest, that we decided to add another week.

There are still 14 spots available for the September 2010 week. If you are interested, you can register online.

The adventure will begin in Glendive, Montana on Monday afternoon, September 13th, and continue through Friday evening. You might want to spend the weekend before and/or after in some of the amazing places that are located within a day’s drive of Glendive: Yellowstone National Park, Black Hills, and Glacier National Park, to name a few.

We’ll spend the majority of each day out in the field, arriving back at the hotel in time for you to wash the dirt off and put on clean clothes, and maybe even take a quick nap, before dinner and our evening program.

Buddy Davis, dinosaur sculptor for the museum, musician, and popular AiG speaker, will assist with the dig and provide exciting programs in the evenings for everyone on the dig team. Buddy has been on many dinosaur excavations, including one on the North Slope of Alaska. His music and teaching will make this a dinosaur dig unlike any other!

The cost of the dig is $925 ($835 for Creation Museum members). This includes meals*, transportation while in Glendive, use of tools, instruction on excavation techniques, visit to local state park, visit to Glendive Dinosaur & Fossil museum (a new creation-based museum operated by Foundation Advancing Creation Truth), and teaching and music by Buddy Davis. You will be responsible for getting to Glendive and your lodging while there.

The minimum age for participation in the Dinosaur Dig is 12 years old. We will be digging in the Badlands, so conditions may be harsh, although September is usually pleasant with lower temperatures.

This is going to be a fantastic time of fellowship, discovery, and fun! We would like to thank the Foundation Advancing Creation Truth (FACT) and Otis Kline for partnering with us to make this unique opportunity available for you.

If you would like to go, register now because space is very limited! The July dig filled up the first day of registration! To reserve a spot, a non-refundable deposit of $125 must be made. If you have any questions, please contact us by filling out this form.

*Lunch and dinner will be catered each day. The Comfort Inn, where participants are encouraged to stay because daily transportation will be staged and evening programs will be held there, offers free breakfast for guests.

Are you looking for an opportunity to volunteer this Christmas? The Creation Museum’s 2009 Christmas program is coming up in December and we need your help!

Have you ever participated in a play at your church or in school? Do you have a degree or background in theater that you want to use for God’s glory? Are you able to commit to giving some of your time this Christmas season? If the answer is yes to these questions, then the Creation Museum may be a place for you to use your skills.

We are seeking experienced actors with passion, charisma, and a desire to use their talents to reach people for Christ. Our Christmas program is a free event and outreach to the public, and we need actors and crew members to commit their time and expertise to achieve a quality evangelistic production.

Please click here for more information and a link to the application you’ll need to start the process.

The Creation Museum’s inaugural 5K Raptor Run/Walk is coming up in less than two weeks. However, that is not the only race that has been held at the Creation Museum. We have also had three different cross country races.

The most recent cross country race was held on September 19 and we want to congratulate Li Tai. Here is a picture as he crosses the line and then accepting a certificate of completion from Dan Mangus, the Creation Museum’s Senior Director.

If you want to run at the Creation Museum there is still time to sign up for the Raptor Run. This exciting race will be held on Saturday, October 17. You can register on-line or show up in the morning to compete. You’ll want to be early as the registration will end at 7:30, thirty minutes before the race begins at 8:00. The current registration fee is only $35 and includes a unique T-shirt.
