Atheists Sue State of Kentucky

According to an Associated Press article:

A group of atheists filed a lawsuit Tuesday seeking to remove part of a state anti-terrorism law that requires Kentucky’s Office of Homeland Security to acknowledge it can’t keep the state safe without God’s help.

American Atheists Inc. sued in state court over a 2002 law that stresses God’s role in Kentucky’s homeland security alongside the military, police agencies and health departments. Of particular concern is a 2006 clause requiring the Office of Homeland Security to post a plaque that says the safety and security of the state “cannot be achieved apart from reliance upon almighty God” and to stress that fact through training and educational materials. The plaque, posted at the Kentucky Emergency Operations Center in Frankfort, includes the Bible verse: “Except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.”

“It is one of the most egregiously and breathtakingly unconstitutional actions by a state legislature that I’ve ever seen,” said Edwin F. Kagin, national legal director of Parsippany, N.J.-based American Atheists Inc. The group claims the law violates both the state and U.S. constitutions.

But Democratic state Rep. Tom Riner, a Baptist minister from Louisville, said he considers it vitally important to acknowledge God’s role in protecting Kentucky and the nation. “No government by itself can guarantee perfect security,” Riner said. “There will always be this opposition to the acknowledgment of divine providence, but this is a foundational understanding of what America is.”

It should be noted that atheist attorney Ed Kagin, who lives in this region, is part of the same group that has opposed the building of the Creation Museum ever since AiG tried to rezone property in Kentucky in the 1990s. The atheist group was successful in causing AiG to lose the first piece of property considered—but that enabled AiG to find a far superior piece of property right on an interstate and build a far bigger museum!

These same atheists then protested the opening of the museum, when a small group of them gathered outside the gates while 4000 people attended the opening last year! The atheists also had a plane fly over the museum for a few hours dragging a banner that stated, “Thou shalt not lie.” The same group that is opposed to the Ten Commandments being in public places was displaying one of the Ten Commandments to the public. But the most ironic thing is that—I found out afterward—most people thought AiG had rented the plane, and the banner was meant for the atheists, telling them they should not lie! So, that totally backfired on them.

People in the USA need to understand that atheists want their religion of atheism imposed on America! Leaving God out is not a neutral position—there is no such thing as neutrality. As the Bible tells us, one is either for Christ or against Him—there is no in between.

Louis Braille’s 200th Birthday is Jan. 4, 1809. Braille brought “light” into darkness. Darwin brought darkness to the “people of light.”

AiG Is “Suddenly a Christian Organization!”

The recent Cincinnati Zoo/Creation Museum controversy (see previous blog) has appeared in many news sources across the USA. I thought you might be interested to read the news item on the Christianity Today website, and particularly some of the comments people left, especially the one you will smile at that states we are “suddenly a Christian organization!” We’ve been found out!
