An Important Perspective on the Hobby Lobby Case

by Ken Ham

Here is an important perspective on the Supreme Court’s decision yesterday regarding Hobby Lobby from a leader within the Southern Baptist denomination:

Following the Supreme Court’s 5-4 decision to allow Hobby Lobby to not cover certain types of birth control on religious grounds, Russell Moore, president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics and Religious Commission, blasted President Barack Obama’s treatment of religious liberty issues. “This administration has shown a shocking audacity when it comes to restricting religious liberty,” Moore told reporters on Monday afternoon.
A bit later the article continues:
“We cannot see this case as settling the issue once and for all. We have to remain diligent to articulate why religious liberty is in the common good of all people,” he said, adding that he didn’t “think of any of us would have imagined just a few years ago that the government would be seeking to coerce Southern Baptist arts and craft store owners and Mennonite wood workers to pay for abortion-causing drugs — but here we are.”

Also, if you haven’t yet done so, I encourage you to read Dr. Elizabeth Mitchell’s article, “Landmark Supreme Court Victory for Hobby Lobby and Religious Freedom” on the AiG website.
