New telescope for AiG

Recently a new telescope was donated to AiG. Our full-time astrophysicist, Dr. Jason Lisle, (who will also oversee planetarium programs for the Creation Museum) was thrilled to receive this generous donation from one of our supporters. I asked Jason to summarize the details of this exciting piece of equipment:

This new state-of-the-art telescope is a computer-controlled GPS 12-inch Schmidt–Cassegrain by Meade. A number of high-quality eyepieces and filters were included in this gift. Along with our other telescopes, this new instrument will allow our visitors to explore the glory of God (Psalm 19:1) with their own eyes during special night programs.

Note: telescope viewing will be one of the options available for those attending the Demolishing Strongholds conference as well as Creation College 2.

You may be interested to read an article about a lawsuit over the teaching of Intelligent Design. The article begins: "Americans United for Separation of Church and State today filed a lawsuit in federal court in California to stop a public school district from teaching a course that promotes a religious perspective about the origins of life." Well, I had a busy day with LOTS of meetings. Dr. David Menton addressed our staff this morning bringing a report on his recent speaking tour in Peru. A contractor arrives this Friday to begin installing the Grand Canyon walk-through exhibit as part of the Creation Museum. Everyone is busy catching up on finalizing end-of-year matters and gearing up for 2006.
