Biblical literalism a "plague"

Evolutionists gathered in St. Louis this past weekend for a major conference. This is the nation's largest gathering of scientists—the AAAS conference (American Association for the Advancement of Science). A St. Louis news source stated:

Scientists aren't just defending evolution anymore. Over the weekend in St. Louis, the nation's leaders in science went on the offensive. With the fervor of preachers and the drive of generals, scientists from across the country rallied against what they describe as religious pressure in public schools. And they enlisted the help of hundreds of teachers.

Further on in the article, a church leader is quoted as saying:

"One of the biggest problems teachers face is evangelical Christianity based on the literal interpretation of the Scriptures," he said, calling biblical literalism "a plague in our midst."

There is no doubt the battle over creation, evolution, Genesis, biblical Christianity and secular humanism is heating up big time! We’ll report more on this on our website and in our newsletters. WHAT DO I DO NEXT?

During our conference this past weekend in North Carolina, a young man came up to me and said: "OK, I don’t believe in evolution any more. I’m now convinced of that. I’m not a Christian, and to me the next step is to understand how I can accept the Bible as the infallible Word of God. How can you help me?" WOW—what an opportunity—what a challenge.

It is hard to deal with this at a seminar—particularly when I have to go speak, etc.—I spoke to him a bit, recommended some steps—and obtained his name and contact information. On Tuesday, the director of our Answers Department (Bodie Hodge) will be contacting this young man to set up a dialogue with him and get him materials he needs. Please pray for this young man and pray we will be able to answer his questions and that the Lord will save him.

Today was a vacation day for AiG staff (President’s Day).
