AiG--UK expanding

by Ken Ham

Yesterday (Monday), I had the opportunity to bring a devotion to the staff of AiG--UK. As they have recently moved into a larger building (and are already out of room---they are looking at renting additional premises), I decided to bring them a similar message to one I gave to the AiG--USA staff on our first day in our new offices over a year ago. I spoke on passages from the book of Nehemiah. I encouraged them to keep on building the "wall" as Nehemiah did---but I also warned them that there would be much opposition (as we see today---in fact, the creation/evolution issue is as major an issue in the UK as it is in the USA). When Nehemiah received opposition (such as from Sanballat and Tobiah), he prayed and asked God to strengthen him---and he kept on building the wall.

SMITHSONIAN AND DINOSAUR SOFT TISSUE / BLOOD CELLS

A very interesting article appeared in Smithsonian magazine about the dinosaur soft tissue / blood cell finds. This is quite an interesting article and give some of the background to these startling finds, and also some background about the scientist who discovered them.

The article makes it clear that evolutionists are upset with creationists using these finds to challenge long age thinking and support the biblical account of creation. The article states:

Meanwhile, Schweitzer’s research has been hijacked by "young earth" creationists, who insist that dinosaur soft tissue couldn’t possibly survive millions of years. They claim her discoveries support their belief, based on their interpretation of Genesis, that the earth is only a few thousand years old. Of course, it’s not unusual for a paleontologist to differ with creationists. But when creationists misrepresent Schweitzer’s data, she takes it personally: she describes herself as "a complete and total Christian." On a shelf in her office is a plaque bearing an Old Testament verse: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Now in what way do creationists "misrepresent" the data as claimed in the quote above? Well, further in the article, we are told why this is so:

Young-earth creationists also see Schweitzer's work as revolutionary, but in an entirely different way [...] that Schweitzer’s research was "powerful testimony against the whole idea of dinosaurs living millions of years ago"

[...]

This drives Schweitzer crazy. Geologists have established that the Hell Creek Formation, where B. rex was found, is 68 million years old, and so are the bones buried in it.

The reason creationists misrepresent this find, and the reason creationists are wrong is because these evolutionary scientists have "ESTABLISHED" that the bones have to be 68 million years old. Think about this. The reason the blood cells and soft tissue don’t support a young age for the bones is because evolutionary geologists already "know" the bones are millions of years old!

Then think about this statement from the article:

By being clear that scientists haven’t explained everything, Schweitzer leaves room for other explanations.

She leaves room for other explanations (because they can’t yet explain how soft tissue and blood cells could be preserved for so long)—but the one explanation she has already ruled out is that the bones are not that old!

You can read the entire article at the Smithsonian Magazine website.

Well, Mally and I are staying on in the UK for a few days. Today (Tuesday), we are going to Bedford, the home town of John Bunyan (author of The Pilgrim's Progress). We are going to visit the John Bunyan Museum and other historic places relating to John Bunyan. AiG just recently released the most comprehensive curriculum/devotional study on The Pilgrims' Progress ever written---so it is exciting to visit the area where John Bunyan grew up, was jailed, preached, etc.

Thanks for stopping by,

Ken
