Who are the real

We all talk about the liberal media and how TV is getting worse and worse so I guess NBC’s new show “Heroes” should come as no surprise. The show falls in the superhero genre although not quite like I remember as a kid following the adventures of Spiderman and Superman. Its time slot is supposed to discourage being watched by younger viewers, but I am quite sure many kids are attracted by its fantasy quality and its weekly online comic book. In “Heroes” some people have “evolved” to the point of having supernatural powers such as flying, stopping time, and walking through walls. We are led to believe that these have come about through mutation and natural selection- the mechanisms supposedly driving evolution. Here are some quotes from the episodes:

We all imagine ourselves the agents of our destiny, capable of determining our own fate. But have we truly any choice in when we rise or when we fall? Or does a force larger than ourselves bid us our direction? Is it evolution that takes us by the hand? Does science point our way? Or is it God who intervenes, keeping us safe

When evolution selects its agents, it does so at a cost. It makes demands in exchange for singularity, and you may be asked to do something against your very nature. Suddenly, the change in your life that should have been wonderful comes as a betrayal. It may seem cruel, but the goal is nothing short of self-preservation, survival.

Evolution is an imperfect and often violent process. A battle between what exists and what is yet to be born. In the midst of these birth pains, morality loses it meaning, the question of good and evil reduced to one simple choice: survive or perish.

These quotes lead us to believe that the producers of this show support the idea that evolution is guiding mankind, it is a survival of the fittest world, and morality doesn’t even exist. The people in this show are not “heroes”; the real hero is Jesus Christ who died on the cross for our sins. I think this program has grown out of the fear of the impact that organizations like Answers in Genesis are having on the world. Keep proclaiming the message--the Bible is true from the very first verse to the very last verse!

This show has quite a bit of violence, sexual innuendo, and other disturbing scenes, therefore, it is not recommended for viewing. Our hope is to alert you to how millions are being influenced every week as they tune in.
