Petitions against Creation Museum

by Ken Ham

A number of petitions are now circulating on the Internet to get people to sign up to show their opposition to the Creation Museum. It is amazing that with all the evolutionary propaganda that pours out of secular museums, zoos, schools and colleges, TV programs, etc. that evolutionists are extremely worried about one Creation Museum.

I've pasted in copy from 2 of these petitions below. The first one was prepared for scientists from Kentucky, Ohio, or Indiana. A number of scientists have already signed this petition that states they “are concerned about scientifically inaccurate materials at the Answers in Genesis Museum.” Just think about this: none of these scientists have seen the Museum (it is not opened yet), none have read the signs, none have watched the videos—they have not seen or read anything in the Museum in regard to its teaching—but they can sign this petition. Amazing. Of course, they would claim they know what is going to be taught, because they know AiG stands on the authority of God's Word in Genesis. Therefore, regardless of what scientific material is in the Creation Museum, these biased scientists have already made up their minds without even researching the issue properly. When they come and visit, they will scoff at what is said because they already reject God's Word in Genesis—regardless of what information is in the Museum.

Petition 1:

Statement of Concern about Impact of AIG's "Creation Museum" Parents, educators, scientists, clergy, and other citizens are concerned about scientifically inaccurate exhibits at the Creation Museum in Petersburg, KY, operated by Answers in Genesis, a fundamentalist Christian ministry.

The statement below has been prepared by and for scientists in KY, OH, and IN. Please feel free to sign if you are a scientist from KY, OH, or IN. And, please circulate this statement among your colleagues.

Statement of Concern We, the undersigned scientists at universities and colleges in Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana, are concerned about scientifically inaccurate materials at the Answers in Genesis museum. Students who accept this material as scientifically valid are unlikely to succeed in science courses at the college level. These students will need remedial instruction in the nature of science, as well as in the specific areas of science misrepresented by Answers in Genesis.

Petition 2 (interesting how this petition says “Ham's nefarious campaign to confuse America’s children... .” Of course, evolutionists don’t want children “confused” with the facts–they just want these children dogmatically taught evolution without any opportunity of hearing evidence against molecules-to-man evolution or evidence that confirms the history of life as given in the Bible). And AiG is NOT “anti-science” as claimed! This is a typical emotional attack that we hear over and over again to intimidate people to stand against AiG. A number of Ph.D. scientists are employed by AiG and work with AiG to ensure scientific accuracy in what is taught.
Fighting Ignorance. The opening of the Creation Museum is only a few weeks away. In preparation for this anti-science institution we have launched a petition for national educators.

From Kindergarten teachers to tenured professors, we are calling on those who know first hand just how dangerous the religious right's war on science is to sign our petition condemning the Creation Museum. Let's make one thing clear, this isn't about religion, it's about bad science. Ken Ham has spent $27 million to create a world where lies are true. Check out this tidbit from the site of Answers in Genesis - Ham's creationist organization:

Adam and apes share the same birthday. The first man walked with dinosaurs and named them all! God's Word is true, or evolution is true. No millions of years. There's no room for compromise.

Nice attitude. Ham is of course free to believe what he wants, but we are also free to voice our concern over Ham's nefarious campaign to confuse America's children and undermine scientific understanding. If you're not an educator, click here to tell teachers, professors, and scientists in your life to join our campaign.

AiG ACCUSED OF POLITICAL MOTIVES

As you are (or should be) aware, AiG has no political motives. Our major emphasis is to disseminate information that is basically censored from the culture. If people use this information to influence decisions of school boards or politicians, so be it. However, AiG does not involve itself in any political agendas. Our motive is pure and simple: to teach people that the Bible is true and to proclaim the gospel that is clearly taught in the Bible.

When someone signs one of the petitions against the Creation Museum, they are prompted to send the following email to a friend asking them to add their name:

The "Creation Museum," an institution designed to promote the falsehood that science supports the notion of a 6,000 year old Earth, is only the most recent example of the religious right's war on science education - whether in the form of anti-evolution stickers in textbooks or the promotion of intelligent design in the classroom.

As an educator, you are in a unique position to help defend science education from the religious right's outrageous campaign to teach ignorance. Please, add your name to the petition created by the Campaign to Defend the Constitution. Together, we can help protect real science education.

Well, the Creation Museum certainly is gaining notoriety!

I've included a photograph of the new Pergola being built and two photos of the work being done to asphalt the walking trails.

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying
