Heresy and Blasphemy in the Cincinnati Post

We have two major newspaper in the Cincinnati area—the Cincinnati Enquirer (and its sister paper across the Ohio River, The Kentucky Enquirer) and the Cincinnati Post (and Kentucky Post). The Enquirer newspapers have been generally fair to AiG (and our opponents) in reporting on the Creation Museum, its opposition, etc. However the Post newspaper has been very “tabloidish” in many ways—and one particular reporter (Kevin Eigelbach) has had an obvious anti-AiG agenda. On September 27, 2007, Mr. Eigelbach, who also writes a regular column on religion, wrote the following commentary (I have included only excerpts—you can read the entire commentary at the link given further below). You can decide for yourself if you think this is heresy and blasphemy (and remember God’s warning about adding to or taking away from His Word):

We owe much of our ideas about Christianity to one Paul of Tarsus, whose letters to early Christian churches make up much of the New Testament. But Paul wrote a letter that didn't make it into the Bible. He refers to it in the last chapter of his letter to the church at Colossae. He asks the church there to read the letter he wrote to the church at Laodicea, another town in modern-day Turkey.

No one knows what happened to the letter to the Laodiceans. Just for fun, let's imagine that it read something like this: "Paul, called to be an apostle by God, to the church at Laodicea. Grace to you and peace from our Lord Jesus Christ.

"I felt an urgent need to clarify some things I've written to other churches, so that no one can trouble your minds with them. "In my letter to the Roman church, I wrote some things that some might interpret to mean that God forbids loving relationships between same-sex couples. "Not so. I was preaching against things like men molesting boys, not consensual relationships between adults.

"If any man among you has desires for another man he can't control, let him marry his partner. Let them live together like a husband and wife. "After all, as I told the Corinthians, it's better to marry than to burn with lust. …

"On another subject, in the last days, many will say that a woman must bear a child that she doesn't want or can't support. The Holy Spirit has revealed to me that women are much wiser than we give them credit for. I think we men should leave decisions about their own bodies to them and their doctors…. "Whatever you do, please don't let other Christians give my words and thoughts, written in my letters, the same authority that you do the words of our Lord. "You see, some people are calling my writings the new Scriptures, and this bothers me…”

Please pray for Kevin. The Lord changed a man like Paul who opposed Christians—the Lord can change Kevin’s heart too (though I believe Kevin has a church background and may consider himself a “liberal” Christian)—and that is my sincere prayer.

THE POST’S AiG AGENDA

The same Post reporter who wrote the above has written numerous pieces over the years. Understanding now how he treats God’s Word, one should then recognize that whatever such a person writes about AiG will have the same sort of agenda. For instance, this reporter has written two recent articles libeling/slandering some of us at AiG by quoting a grievously libelous document full of false accusations put on the web that orchestrated a scurrilous attack on AiG and the Creation Museum.

Whenever you read such articles in newspapers that make claims against persons and organizations, always remember Proverbs 18:13: “He who answers a matter before he hears it, It is folly and shame to him.” We are always happy when someone comes to us to ask about an accusation rather than believe what someone else states and then spread gossip and slander.

Remember what the Bible says about those of the world in Romans 8:7: “…because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so.”

HILLARY CLINTON ON EVOLUTION

Yesterday, Hillary Clinton, who as we all know is making a run for the White House, was reported on in the New York Times concerning a speech she gave and comments given in a telephone interview. The New York Times reported the following:

In the telephone interview after the speech, Mrs. Clinton also tacitly criticized opponents of evolution. Some of the 2008 Republican presidential candidates have said flatly that they do not believe in evolution, while other Republican contenders have said they support teaching evolution, intelligent design and creationist ideas.

“I believe in evolution, and I am shocked at some of the things that people in public life have been saying,” Mrs. Clinton said in the interview. “I believe that our founders had faith in reason and they also had faith in God, and one of our gifts from God is the ability to reason.”

“I am grateful that I have the ability to look at dinosaur bones and draw my own conclusions,” she added, saying, too, that antibiotic-resistant bacteria is evidence that “evolution is going on as we speak.”

Besides the fact that many of the Founding Founders of the USA understood their ability to reason was “fallen” (because of sin) and that they needed to build all their thinking on the Bible to ensure their reasoning had the right foundation to correctly understand the universe, Hillary was quoted concerning the issue of supposed bacterial resistance as an evidence for evolution. I have seen such a claim made over and over again in the media and in public school text books. However, bacterial resistance has NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with molecules to man evolution—nothing! AiG has written many articles on this topic (see, for example, Antibiotic Resistance of Bacteria: An Example of Evolution in Action?) explaining the mechanisms for such resistance—which never involves brand new genetic information arising matter!

If quoted correctly, Hillary seems to express her belief in God—but if I had the opportunity, I would like to challenge her as to which god is she talking about? You see, in the public school science classes, the Christian God has been basically thrown out. Students are taught in their Biology text books about how the origin of life and the origin of man can be explained by totally natural (atheistic) processes. If the god Hillary is talking about is relegated to just religion classes—than how can this god be the God of the Bible, as the God of the Bible is the creator—and the creator God of the Bible has NOTHING to do with the creation of life (including humans) in the secular biology textbooks used in the nation’s public school science classes!

Well, we have lots to pray about concerning this nation. We expect another big day at the Creation Museum today—as of this morning, we are very close to reaching 220,000 guests. We of course will make a big news announcement when we reach 250,000, as that is the number we gave the media for our projected first-year attendance figures—which appears that now will be reached in less than six months.
