More Weird Evolutionary Ideas

by Ken Ham

The New York Times on Tuesday ran an article that even they seem to admit sounds weird. Here is the beginning of the article:

Big Brain Theory: Have Cosmologists Lost Theirs? It could be the weirdest and most embarrassing prediction in the history of cosmology, if not science. . . . If true, it would mean that you yourself reading this article are more likely to be some momentary fluctuation in a field of matter and energy out in space than a person with a real past born through billions of years of evolution in an orderly star-spangled cosmos. Your memories and the world you think you see around you are illusions.
This bizarre picture is the outcome of a recent series of calculations that take some of the bedrock theories and discoveries of modern cosmology to the limit. Nobody in the field believes that this is the way things really work, however. And so in the last couple of years there has been a growing stream of debate and dueling papers, replete with references to such esoteric subjects as reincarnation, multiple universes and even the death of spacetime, as cosmologists try to square the predictions of their cherished theories with their convictions that we and the universe are real.
Well, after reading the entire article, I asked AiG’s PhD in astrophysics, Dr. Jason Lisle, “Please translate this article—what is it saying?” Jason then sent me this:
Translation: “According to (some versions of) the big bang theory, the universe popped into existence from an improbable quantum fluctuation. But since your brain is far simpler than the universe (which consists of your brain PLUS everything else), it’s actually more likely that just your brain popped into existence from a quantum fluctuation. So, the universe we see is far more likely to be an illusion produced by your brain than to be real. I.e., only brains actually exist.”
The argument is self refuting because it is based (ostensibly) on some interpretations of quantum mechanics—which were derived by observing the universe. But if the universe is illusion then so is quantum mechanics; therefore, there is no reason to believe any conclusions allegedly derived from it. The article certainly confirms Proverbs 1:7—those who do not start with God (as revealed in His Word), are reduced to foolishness.
Jason
I thought of another Bible verse to go with this: “Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools” (Romans 1:22).

SOMEONE WHO FOUND A “MISSING LINK”

In a recent blog, I wrote about a pastor of a large church who used some statements from my father’s Bible—on display outside the chapel at the Creation Museum—in one of his daily email devotionals. In one of his devotionals, he put in a link to the Creation Museum. The following feedback illustrates just how the Lord uses such emails to reach people around the world:

“I think it was a great idea for you to put the link for the Creation Museum. I truly believe that we need to fight back on the teaching of evolution. No wonder so many children turn their backs on God and believe in evolution, our children are being fed incorrect information in their schools. I can only speak for myself that I am going to educate myself and my children with books supporting Creation so that when they are faced with the challenging questions about Creation, they will have an answer and not be swayed. I just bought a book called The Case For Creation and am now going to buy The New Answers Book by Ham that I found on the Creation Museum’s website. Thank you for your continued dedication; Grace Mail is a great resource!”
We praise the Lord this person found a “missing link”—the link to the museum’s website! By the way, the church this is associated with (Calvary Community Church in Phoenix, Arizona) is the home church of AiG friend and supporter Tom Vail. Tom is the person who put the book Grand Canyon: A Different View together. This is the book evolutionists have been trying to get banned from the Grand Canyon bookstore—however, in doing so, they helped advertise this book more widely than ever—and then it sold more than ever! By the way, Carl Kerby and Dr. Andrew Snelling will be speaking at this church May 4th and 5th. It will include a talk on the Grand Canyon (located in the northern part of Arizona).

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying.
