Standing Room Only

It was standing room only at the Waukesha Expo Center (near Milwaukee, Wisconsin) on Saturday for the VCY America Radio rally I spoke at.

Sadly, over a couple of hundred people had to be turned away, as the building reached the fire code limit for the numbers in the center. If we would not have had to close the doors, nearly 2,000 people would have attended.

I have included a number of photographs to help you experience a little of the fervor of that night:

1. People lined up outside the door an hour before the doors were opened.
2. A photograph from inside the center taken while I was speaking.
3. Two photographs of the masses as they swarmed the resource tables and purchased nearly two pallets of books and DVDs we had shipped in for this event.

We are noticing that the number of people attending AiG events is growing—there is more interest/hunger than ever at such programs. I also praise the Lord for organizations like VCY America that stand on the authority of the Word of God and invite us to such events to help spread the creation/gospel message.

STANFORD LEGAL GROUP DEFENDS EXPELLED AGAINST LAWSUIT

Many of you have seen the movie Expelled. As part of the movie, a 15-second clip from a John Lennon song was used in a particular way under the Fair Use doctrine. Now John Lennon’s wife is suing Expelled. However, the Fair Use Project of Stanford’s Law School is defending Expelled. This is very important, as AiG uses clips/quotes, etc., under the fair use doctrine—but then again, evolutionists use AiG material under this doctrine also. Here is an excerpt from a news report from the Christian Post:

The Fair Use Project of Stanford Law School’s Center for Internet and Society announced Thursday that it would serve as legal counsel for the producers of “Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed” in their right to use a clip of John Lennon’s song “Imagine” in its pro-intelligent design documentary.

A lawsuit filed last week in a New York District Court by John Lennon’ sons and widow, Yoko Ono, alongside EMI Blackwood Music is seeking unspecified damages and a halt on all screenings of the film for what they claim is an illegal appropriation of the hit song.

The producers of the film, however, have claimed legal protection under the fair use doctrine – a position that was strengthened this week after the Fair Use Project announced it would defend the filmmakers in court.

In a statement Thursday, Anthony Falzone, executive director of the Fair Use Project, said that the case was a clear issue of free speech, given that the “Imagine” clip appears for less than 15 seconds and was used in a manner of artistic criticism to illustrate briefly a hypothetical world without religion.

“The right to quote from copyrighted works in order to criticize them and discuss the views they may represent lies at the heart of the fair use doctrine. These rights are under attack here, and we plan to defend them,” he said.

(Numbers 11:1) And when the people complained, it displeased the LORD: and the LORD heard it; and his anger was kindled; and the fire of the LORD burnt among them, and consumed them that were in the uttermost parts of the camp.

When we praise God in hardships we cast our vote of confidence, but when we complain we cast our vote of no confidence in God’s care for us & poison our relationship with Him.
