New York Times on Creation Museum Visit by Paleontologists

The New York Times published an article on Tuesday about the visit to the Creation Museum by a group of paleontologists recently. It is interesting reading—and, of course, not surprising at all to see the comments made by these evolutionary scientists. I thought I would quote the first paragraph and comment—and then you can read the entire article at the link below.

The first paragraph of the article entitled “Paleontology and Creationism Meet but Don’t Mesh” states:

Tamaki Sato was confused by the dinosaur exhibit. The placards described the various dinosaurs as originating from different geological periods—the stegosaurus from the Upper Jurassic, the heterodontosaurus from the Lower Jurassic, the velociraptor from the Upper Cretaceous—yet in each case, the date of demise was the same: around 2348 B.C.

There is no doubt that someone thoroughly indoctrinated in billions of years and evolutionary ideas would react this way. Even most PhD scientists I find don’t truly understand the difference between observational (operational) science and historical (origins) science (the word science basically means “knowledge”). They also are not aware of—or don’t admit—their starting assumptions (as our Starting Points Room at the museum points out).

Think about this quote above:

1. Young-earth creationists do agree that the oldest layers are at the bottom and the youngest at the top, but the time difference is where the disagreement lies.
2. Young-earth creationists do agree that layers of sedimentary rock can be named according to dominant fossil types/sediment type etc. (one can use the same names the secularists do). The disagreement is not in what is observed, but the interpretation in regard to how long it took for the layers to be laid down (something no one did observe).
3. Creationists and evolutionists have the same rock layers—the difference is in how we interpret those layers in regard to the past (historical science)
4. Young-earth creationists believe most (not all) sedimentary layers (such as the ones listed in the quote above) were laid down at some time during the global Flood of Noah’s day
5. So, we have different interpretations because we have different starting points. The real battle is between the two starting points—God’s Word or autonomous human reasoning.

AiG staff members Cecil and Vicki Eggert were thrilled to announce the birth of a granddaughter. Cecil and Vicki wrote:

We praise the Lord for the arrival of Eva Nichole McNeill—daughter of Joe and Lindsey McNeill. Eva made her grand entrance into this world at 2:18 p.m., Sunday, June 28. She weighed 7 lbs 11.8 oz. and was 21 inches in length. After much trial and tribulation, both parents and grandparents are glad she is finally here.

(Exodus 16:4) Then said the Lord unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.

The Lord Jesus Christ is our choice trainer, as He constantly puts choices before us between the right and wrong to see if we will rely on Him and choose correctly.
