Huffington Post Admits Its Site Was Always Meant to Be Fiction

Well, the HuffPost didn’t actually say that. But I’m using the same kind of logic and headline grabber one of its writers used in responding to an article I wrote recently!

Yesterday, I was intrigued when my Google alerts brought up headlines from atheist websites such as these:

Creationist Ken Ham calls to end space program because aliens are going to hell anyway

Creationist Ken Ham: Aliens are going to hell so just stop looking for them

And then this headline comes from the secularist, often anti-Christian website Huffington Post:

Creationist Ken Ham Says Aliens Will Go To Hell So Let’s Stop Looking For Them

Other secular sites had similar headlines. Actually, I did laugh out loud when I read them—the secularists came up with stunning, creative headlines to draw in their readers. But when I started to read their articles, I realized that these writers seemed to actually believe this nonsense about aliens in hell that their headlines blared!

It seems that one of our atheist opponents in Illinois is so obsessed with Answers in Genesis that he often comes up with some piece of fiction that he thinks attacks us, and others, like lambs led to slaughter, just follow blindly after him (like the HuffPost writer). Sadly, it’s typical of this Illinois writer and other atheists (not surprisingly they have no basis in absolute truth in their purposeless universe) who are not concerned at being accurate. “Truth” to them is relative, and whatever they can post or print to attack AiG that is not accurate is okay by them.

But what did I actually write?

Now the Huffington Post article “reports” (hmmm—that’s not a good word—let me try again) distorts my article about the search for life in outer space this way:

Creationist Ken Ham, who recently debated Bill Nye the Science Guy over the origins of the universe, is calling for an end to the search for extraterrestrial life because aliens probably don’t exist -- and if they do, they’re going to Hell anyway.

“You see, the Bible makes it clear that Adam’s sin affected the whole universe,” Ham wrote on his blog on Sunday. “This means that any aliens would also be affected by Adam’s sin, but because they are not Adam’s descendants, they can’t have salvation.”

But Ham, president and CEO of Answers in Genesis and the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Ky., said we probably are alone. He wrote “earth was specially created,” and the entire hunt for extraterrestrials is “really driven by man’s rebellion against God in a desperate attempt to supposedly prove evolution!

If aliens do exist, however, Ham said even Jesus can’t save them.

Now, here is what I actually wrote in response to an article that claimed aliens would be found somewhere else in the universe within 20 years:

The Bible, in sharp contrast to the secular worldview, teaches that earth was specially created, that it is unique and the focus of God’s attention (Isaiah 66:1 and Psalm 115:16). Life did not evolve but was specially created by God, as Genesis clearly teaches. Christians certainly shouldn’t expect alien life to be cropping up across the universe. . . .

Now the Bible doesn’t say whether there is or is not animal or plant life in outer space. I certainly suspect not. The Earth was created for human life. And the sun and moon were created for signs and our seasons—and to declare the glory of God.

And I do believe there can’t be other intelligent beings in outer space because of the meaning of the gospel. You see, the Bible makes it clear that Adam’s sin affected the whole universe. This means that any aliens would also be affected by Adam’s sin, but because they are not Adam’s descendants, they can’t have salvation. One day, the whole universe will be judged by fire, and there will be a new heavens and earth. God’s Son stepped into history to be Jesus Christ, the “Godman,” to be our relative, and to be the perfect sacrifice for sin—the Savior of mankind.

Jesus did not become the “GodKlingon” or the “GodMartian”! Only descendants of Adam can be saved. God’s Son remains the “Godman” as our Savior. In fact, the Bible makes it clear that we see the Father through the Son (and we see the Son through His Word). To suggest that aliens could respond to the gospel is just totally wrong.

An understanding of the gospel makes it clear that salvation through Christ is only for the Adamic race—human beings who are all descendants of Adam.

Many secularists want to discover alien life hoping that aliens can answer the deepest questions of life: “Where did we come from?” and “What is the purpose and meaning of life?” But such people are ignoring the revelation from the infinite God behind the whole universe. The Creator has told us where we came from: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1; Nehemiah 9:6). And He told us what life’s purpose is: “Fear God and keep His commandments” (Ecclesiastes 12:13).

The answers to life’s questions will not be found in imaginary aliens but in the revelation of the Creator through the Bible and His Son, Jesus Christ, who came to die on a Cross to redeem mankind from sin and death that our ancestor, Adam, introduced.

We need to start proclaiming the authority of God’s Word from the very first verse—even on the subject of alien life! So, “is there intelligent life in outer space?” After reading the Huffington Post article and the other items on secular websites responding to my article, my answer is this: “there doesn’t seem to be much intelligent life left here on earth—let alone to find any in outer space!” :-)

Oh—and a lot of what is written on Huffington Post is really fiction, including some of the items that HuffPost has written about AiG and the Creation Museum, as many of you already know.

Also, I just saw that the Cleveland Leader, a news website, has posted an article titled “Creationist Ken Ham Wants to Defund NASA Because He Says Aliens Cannot Go to Heaven”—just ridiculous. It is sad to see the sorry state of news reporting in this nation.
