Adam—A Myth? Get Answers in a Brand-New Resource

One of the most attacked biblical figures of our day is the first man, Adam—the head of the human race. Increasingly secularists and, sadly, even many Christians (including seminary and Bible college professors), claim there never was a literal Adam. But a historical Adam is foundational to the gospel! Was Adam just a myth?

Searching for Adam: Genesis and the Truth About Man’s Origin, a new book from Answers in Genesis and Master Books, seeks to answer this question. This timely resource, edited by AiG’s Dr. Terry Mortenson, features chapters on Adam, man’s origins, and supposed human evolution.

Sixteen experts present evidence that Adam was a historical person from

  • Scripture
  • History
  • Theology
  • Paleontology
  • Genetics
  • Archeology
  • Ethics.

This book is a great addition to any home, church, or school library. And it’s a must-have for young people heading off to college—even a Bible college. The number of Christian college professors who doubt or outright deny the existence of Adam is shocking and saddening—and these professors teach in many colleges that are considered to be theologically conservative.

Just because you are sending your children to a Christian school doesn’t mean they will be encouraged to trust God’s Word on origins. In the face of compromise, young people need to be equipped to stand solidly on God’s Word.

An attack on Adam is an attack on the gospel.

An attack on Adam is an attack on the gospel. You see, if there never were an Adam, there was no first sin and there was no original sinner. And if there were no first sin and original sinner, then why did Jesus have to come as a man and die to pay the penalty for our sin (Romans 5:12; 1 Corinthians 15:22)? After all, if man evolved over millions of years, death and bloodshed existed prior to sin, so why did Jesus die? Believing in millions of years of bloodshed and death before sin totally undermines the Scripture which says, “Without shedding of blood there is no remission” (Hebrews 9:22).

The gospel is grounded in literal history!

Year of the Bible

Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin recently declared 2017 “the Year of the Bible” in Kentucky—“for those who honor Me I will honor” (1 Samuel 2:30). He acknowledges the place of the Bible in the history of this nation and its material blessings. Intolerant secularists won't like it, of course, but they can't deny the place of the Bible in the history of this nation. Indeed some are already complaining since they want to eliminate the Bible and impose their “there is no God” religion on the culture.
