Sir David Attenborough: “We Cannot be Radical Enough” on Climate Change

Famed naturalist Sir David Attenborough, best known for his narration of nature documentaries, recently told a parliamentary committee in the United Kingdom that “we cannot be radical enough in dealing with [climate change].” I remember watching some of his nature documentaries on TV years ago, and they were nothing but evolutionary propaganda programs. Attenborough sees young people as the stimulus for bringing about a change that would get the UK to net-zero when it comes to carbon emissions. But should young people and others be pushing for radical solutions to the perceived climate crisis?

Well, much of the climate alarmism today is based on computer modelling and, so far, the predictions that have been made for several decades now simply haven’t come to fruition. That alone should cause us to pause and consider if their computer models are accurate!

And there’s been climate change in the past. Of course, the biggest climate change was the global flood of Noah’s day about 4,350 years ago. This flood destroyed the world that then was and upset the climate, including creating the perfect conditions for an ice age following the flood. The world has been settling down since that flood.

Even since the flood, we’ve seen other climate change events.

And, even since the flood, we’ve seen other climate change events. There was a warming period during the Middle Ages that allowed farmers to settle and grow crops on Greenland—not something I suggest doing today! There was also a Little Ice Age in the 16th century that impacted agriculture significantly. And no one was driving cars, flying airplanes, or building factories back then!

Clearly, there’s more to climate and the changes we’re currently seeing than just an increase in carbon dioxide, as we’re so often told by the alarmist media. That’s why I am excited about the Cornwall Alliance for the Stewardship of Creation. This group, founded by Dr. E. Calvin Beisner, features scientists from a variety of disciplines who reject the prevailing narrative of catastrophic, man-made climate change. They regularly publish articles to help people, especially evangelicals, think through these issues thoughtfully and have access to the real data.

We’re called to steward what God has given us well. But that doesn’t mean we buy into every teaching that comes along or jump on the alarmist bandwagon just because everyone else does. So many people see science as a dispassionate, intellectual search for the truth, no matter where it leads. But, in reality, much of science is agenda-driven and grant-driven—if your research doesn’t fit the status quo, good luck getting money to continue studying!

I encourage you to bookmark CornwallAlliance.org and like them on Facebook to stay up-to-date on everything environmental but starting with proper biblical stewardship, not climate-and-environmental alarmism.

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
Ken
