Celebration Service for Dr. John Morris’ Homecoming

Last week, I was thrilled to be able to attend a memorial service—but really a celebration service—in Dallas, Texas, for our good friend and colleague Dr. John Morris. And it was a true celebration as John has gone to be in his eternal home with his Creator and Savior.

I traveled with John on numerous speaking engagements in the USA and other parts of the world. We spoke together at many of the popular “Back to Genesis” seminars in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s. I had the honor of coauthoring a children’s book with John titled What Really Happened to the Dinosaurs?

In 1987, when Mally and I and our children moved to work with the Institute for Creation Research in Santee, California, we stayed with John, his wife Dalta, and family until we found a place to rent.

His legacy in the many books and videos he produced, and in the lives of tens of thousands of people, will continue impacting people generation after generation.

John’s father, the late Henry Morris, cofounded the Institute for Creation Research and coauthored the famous book The Genesis Flood, which really spawned the modern creationist movement (this seminal work was recently revisited in a new book by geologist Dr. Andrew Snelling).

We send our love and condolences to Dalta and family—and all the other family and friends of Dr. Morris. John will be greatly missed. And we grieve over the separation. But we acknowledge that while John’s physical ministry on earth came to an end as our Creator called him home, his ministry hasn’t truly ended. His legacy in the many books and videos he produced, and in the lives of tens of thousands of people, will continue impacting people generation after generation.

See the photo of our director of outreach, Lalo, with Dalta (Lalo worked with John for 16 years at the Institute for Creation Research) and me. It was Dalta who asked me to close last week’s memorial service in prayer.

Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. (Psalm 116:15)

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
Ken
