Our Team Is “Knee-Deep in Research”—and the Results Will Be Jaw-Dropping!

If you visit modern-day Jerusalem and walk around the remains of the temple or stroll down the streets, you might get goosebumps imagining that you’re walking where Jesus walked. But did you know that first-century Jerusalem is actually buried underneath the current streets? (So you really can’t walk exactly where Jesus walked.) First-century Jerusalem looked vastly different from what is there today—and our Ark Encounter design team is bringing it to life for you!

If you’ve visited the Ark or Creation Museum here in N. Kentucky, you’ve seen our remarkable dioramas that show past places or events in incredible, and very tiny, detail. Guests, and their children, love finding all the small details that bring the “world that once was” to life in miniature. So imagine how amazing it will be when the diorama is a scale model of the city of Jerusalem as it would’ve been at the time of Jesus, with the latest in archaeological research (our team reads all the excavation reports so you don’t have to!), trees and other plants, animals, tens of thousands of people going about their daily lives as they would’ve two thousand years ago, houses, shops, and, of course, the temple gleaming in the center of the city. And there will be modern technology enhancing all this and providing archaeological, theological, and apologetic insights. WOW!

Jerusalem Model Room

I believe this exhibit is going to be wildly popular and bring many more people to the Ark Encounter where, in this exhibit, they’ll encounter Jesus, his teachings, the truth of the Gospels, and the gospel message. What a wonderful evangelism opportunity!

Tim Chaffey, our attractions content manager, and Travis Wilson, our art director, recently made a short video highlighting what will be in this exhibit and showing some sneak peeks of some of the research that is currently underway. You’ll definitely want to watch this video—it will make you so excited for what’s coming.

We’re currently fundraising for this building and have an exciting matching gift offer that doubles your gift up to $8.5 million.

This massive model will need to be housed in a large building, so we’re planning to build a combined welcome center, bus drop-off area, and Jerusalem model building at the Ark, across from the Answers Center. We’re currently fundraising for this building and have an exciting matching gift offer that doubles your gift up to $8.5 million. It’s not too late to make a tax-deductible gift for 2022 to help us take full advantage of this gift match so we can construct a building to house the world’s most up-to-date model of first-century Jerusalem.

By the way, once this welcome center and Jerusalem building are in place, this will open the way for a lot more future development at the Ark Encounter.

If you’d like to give toward this exciting project, please visit our donate page. All gifts made before midnight on December 31, 2022, will be doubled (up to $8.5 million) and are tax-deductible.

We can’t wait to see how God will use this new exhibit for his glory!

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
Ken
