What Is a BDG?

by Ken Ham

In his letters, the Apostle Paul sometimes thanks churches and individuals for their help in spreading the gospel by contributing to his ministry and meeting the needs of others. By giving toward Paul’s ministry, they were partnering with him in accomplishing God’s work. Paul was extremely grateful for the help and generosity of these brothers and sisters. Well, like Paul, I am very thankful to the Lord for those who have come alongside Answers in Genesis and have invested in us so that we can encourage and equip the church around the world. We couldn’t do what we do without the gifts and prayers of our faithful supporters.

Well, if you would like to partner with us in sharing the gospel and equipping the church, we have many different giving opportunities that allow you to do just that. Several of these opportunities include ways for you to leave a lasting legacy including what I labeled a BDG—a beneficiary designation gift.

What is a beneficiary designation gift? Well, it’s a simple and affordable way to make a planned gift to support Answers in Genesis. You can designate us as a beneficiary of a retirement account, investment account, bank account, or life insurance policy. This gift comes with benefits for you and your family. It allows you to support the causes that you care about, continue to use your account as long as you need to simplify your estate planning and avoid expensive legal fees, reduce the burden of taxes on your family, and receive an estate tax charitable deduction. And, most of all, it enables you to leave a lasting legacy as you impact the world and the church for God’s glory.

Here’s how a beneficiary designation gift works. To make your gift, contact the person who helps you with your account or insurance policy, such as your broker, banker, or insurance agent, and ask them to send you a new beneficiary designation form. You then complete the form, sign it, and mail it back to your broker, banker, or agent. Then, when you pass away, your account or insurance policy will be paid or transferred to Answers in Genesis, consistent with the beneficiary designation.

Also, if you are interested in making a gift but are also concerned about your future needs, please do keep in mind that beneficiary designation gifts are among the most flexible of all charitable gifts. Even after you complete the beneficiary designation form, you can take distributions or withdrawals from your retirement, investment, or bank account and continue to freely use your account. You can also change your mind at any time in the future for any reason, including if you have a loved one who needs your financial help.

To learn more visit GenesisGift.org, or call us at (859) 727-2222, ext. 483. We would be happy to assist you. And if you have already designated us as a beneficiary of an asset or as part of your estate plan, please let us know. We would like to recognize you and your family for your generous gift.

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
Ken
